As always, Reacher has no particular place to go, and all the time in the world to get there. One morning he ends up in a town near Pleasantville, Tennessee. But there’s nothing pleasant about the place. In broad daylight Reacher spots a hapless soul walking into an ambush. “It was four against one” . . . so Reacher intervenes, with his own trademark brand of conflict resolution. The man he saves is Rusty Rutherford, an unassuming IT manager, recently fired after a cyberattack locked up the town’s data, records, information . . . and secrets.

REACHED ALL EXPECTATIONS... AND THEN SOME
Revisado: 10-02-22
Whether you're a newcomer to the series or a seasoned series-reader, this book will make your pulse quicken and have you urging Jack Reacher, "...don't go into that room!", or, "...watch out, she's got a gun!". Jack Reacher is, or will definitely become a real, fleshed out human being with each new turn of the page - in print or virtually, on Audible - because the writing is just that impeccably top-notch.
I understand that Tom Cruise purchased rights to the name. However, there are some things for which price tags do not exist. Jack Reacher's soul lives within the book binding, front and back covers and on tape. Mostly, Reacher lives inside the imagination of every mind he sparks. Once you've read a Reacher book, you know him. You know what he'd do in a given situation, what he'd say or would never do or say, and is as familiar to you as anyone you've known for a good, long while, with the exception that he's so much more thrilling. Oh, and one more distinction... you'd probably never have met him unless you'd also met with peril, simultaneously.
But, I digress. This book really delivered on the excitement, plot, and Reacher content. I'm ALWAYS a happy Reacher reader! The two Child authors collaborate well together. (Childs?...Children?)

If any artist could brag about his contribution to the pop culture canon, it’s Smokey Robinson. His career is filled with so many “he was there” moments it’s a wonder he doesn’t recall them with the swagger of a conquering hero: songwriting and singing as a teenager in Detroit; co-founding Motown Records with Berry Gordy; creating 26 Top 40 hits with his group The Miracles; helping to spark racial integration of popular music in the 1960s; discovering hitmakers like Diana Ross and the Supremes; penning tunes for a jaw-droppingly diverse group of artists.

SMOKEY, MIRRORED
Revisado: 09-09-22
He's lived, as he put it, "...a blessed life". I couldn't agree more. It is for this reason that listening to him tell his life's story began to sound almost too good to have been true. At every turn, something would come along to save him. All the puzzle pieces fell into place so effortlessly for him. Aside from his struggle with drugs - a seemingly short-lived fracas - his was a magical existence.
This brief tale is perfect for a bedtime story. It'll send you off to Dreamland believing, once again, that nothing is beyond our grasp, as long as we allow ourselves to go back in time to a place where overpopulation and global warming haven't yet robbed everyone of the innocence and hope that anything can come true. We only have to have faith and connections for it to happen.

Ex-marine Arthur Nakai spent years as a member of the Shadow Wolves, an ICE tactical unit tasked by the US government to hunt human traffickers and drug smugglers on the US/Mexico border. He put that life of confronting violence in the darker contours of the desert landscape behind him and settled into a quiet existence in New Mexico with his wife, Sharon, a local TV reporter. But when Sharon goes missing after crossing paths with a serial killer who has just added to his list of young victims, Arthur's calm world is shattered.

Exciting!
Revisado: 07-30-22
Few audiobooks are capable of holding my attention. I missed out on reading many of the world's greatest authors, due to having lived with undiagnosed A.D.D.: Inattentive Type until my daughter was diagnosed. I was fifty years old, and the die had already been cast years ago.
Luckily, murder mysteries - really well written, fast paced ones - held me in its thrall. This one had a decent story, though I felt it somewhat lacking in substance in places. The evil guy was obviously a head case, but even a head case has more than one facet. He was very flat and more a "type", as was his moll; his misguided girlfriend, the soon to be ex-living and breathing accomplice.
Bronson Pinchot's narration was an unexpected treat. That is to say, I knew he'd be excellent, but hadn't realized it would be he as narrator. [* fun fact: I'd seen him in a stage play at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion about A.D.H.D.]. He really breathed life into the characters.

Historia
Daniel McEvoy has a problem. Well, really, he has several, but for this Irish ex-pat bouncer at a seedy, small-time casino, the fact that his girlfriend was just murdered in the parking lot is uppermost in his mind. That is until lots of people around him start dying, and not of natural causes. Suddenly, Daniel’s got half the New Jersey mob, dirty cops, and his man-crazy upstairs neighbor after him, and he still doesn't know what's going on.

SO MUCH FUN!
Revisado: 04-24-22
Truly as enjoyable an experience as I've had in months. If reading required a 12-Step Program's assistance in its cessation, I would be leading the meeting. I averaged a book a day, and can no longer read. Something this wonderful shouldn't be harmful to your health. I love this author, and especially that this title is free with the Audible Plus subscription. I'm not wealthy, and this habit is definitely for those with Platinum cards.
I highly recommend this audiobook. Enjoy!

The second crime novel by internationally best-selling writer Eoin Colfer is a gritty and utterly compelling follow-up to the critically acclaimed Plugged. In Screwed, Colfer adds an entirely new chapter to the adventures and misadventures of Daniel McEvoy, the down-on-his-luck Irish bouncer at a seedy New Jersey bar who, with the help of a motley crew of unlikely characters, solved a bizarre string of murders - including the one of the girl he loved. But people around him continue to die mysteriously, and Daniel is called into action once again.

NO COMPLAINTS, a review by Aborne Kvetcher
Revisado: 04-23-22
There has never been a book written, a film produced, acted, nor scripted with which I couldn't easily find fault. If there is a typo, misspelling, or the slightest error, it will jump off the page at me. It is, therefore, with shock and pleasure that I recommend this audiobook as being flawlessly entertaining.
SCREWED: it's a funny title for this book, considering the amount of time I spent listening to the witty conversation between itsi fascinating characters, cringing at their foibles, and... I won't spoil it by giving away any details. I'll simply leave you with this piece of advice; read Screwed, by Eoin Colfer. There are worse ways of spending an afternoon, or a weekend (depending on how quickly or slowly you prefer to read... I tore through it over about 4 hours). Right now, I'm off to find out what else he might've written. He posseses an excellent wit.

Abracadaver!
Revisado: 04-11-22
There’s no mystery quite like a mystery within another. This happens to be just such a mystery. There are very few books which hold my interest, and fewer still in the audio format.
This is the first in the Robin-Strike series, and let me tell you, not only was my interest held, it was put in a headlock from start to finish. The same can be said for the rest of this series.
I cannot think of a single thing I disliked about this, nor any of the rest of these books. Perhaps one negative aspect is how hard it is to find another as engaging, exciting audiobook, now. They all seem to pale in comparison.
As for the mystery within, I’ll leave that discovery for you to uncover.

Galbraith Rowling Along Nicely
Revisado: 03-20-22
This Cormy-Robin Series has become one of my favorites. Not realizing that the name Robert Galbraith was a pseudonym used by author J.K. Rowling, whose Harry Potter books brought hours of joy to my daughters and me, I had immediately become a fan. It wasn’t until I’d finished the first and had begun looking for the next that I’d discovered the truth. A mystery within a mystery writer.
[get ready, because here comes the…] But, the story line simply wasn’t as clever as his/her previous volumes. It didn’t engage me nearly as well, which is why I read mysteries. A.D.D.: Inattentive Type, diagnosed over twenty years ago in the Neuropsychiatric Institute at UCLA, even when medicated, I still need enough of a story thread to go on. This book had me circling back, clicking back a few chapters at a time, having allowed the storytelling to devolve into muzak, background noise as ii daydreamed. Not a good sign. I’d never had this experience with the others.
Let me know if your experience is similar. If not, it might be time to get my dosage adjusted. <smile>
May the killing begin!.
