Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Inspiring!
Revisado: 10-17-24
An insight into a life many of us could not imagine. I found tears in my eyes on multiple occasions as I saw the love of his grandparents doing all they could to give him self worth and the encouragement he needed to grow. A beautiful story acknowledging how many members of his family changed their own trajectory and through that change impacted his own future.

It was a beautiful story woven together with love. There are two timelines going on simultaneously and you can’t help but find yourself caring for the characters and rooting for a happy ending.

Historia
The sedate English countryside can host - or hide - any number of secrets. Frances, the widowed Countess of Harleigh, needs a venue for her sister Lily’s imminent wedding, away from prying eyes. Risings, George Hazleton’s family estate in Hampshire, is a perfect choice, and soon the guests have gathered to enjoy the usual country pursuits - shooting, horse riding, and romantic interludes in secluded gardens. But the bucolic setting harbors a menace, and it’s not simply the arrival of Frances’ socially ambitious mother. Mysterious accidents befall guests and staff alike.

Best Volume so far

I liked the relationship building between George and Francis that took place in this volume. The back and forth game can get old. Their relationship is a brilliant example that men and women can make a successful team. One does not need to dominate the other for them to both shine.
