Historia
Mesopotamia is the ancient name for the region that is now Iraq, a remarkably advanced civilization that flourished for two-thirds of the time that civilization has existed on Earth. Mesopotamians mastered irrigation agriculture; built the first complex urban societies; developed writing, literature, and law; and united vast regions through warfare and diplomacy. While civilizations like Greece and Rome have an unbroken tradition of written histories, the rich history of Mesopotamia has only been recently rediscovered, thanks to the decipherment of Mesopotamia's cuneiform writing less than 200 years ago.

Wonderful
Revisado: 12-20-22
This is wonderful. I learned so much, and I enjoyed the teacher’s personality so much. The ancient history of the Middle East discussed bears importantly on modern history and our civilization, and also on Biblical history and religion.

Historia
Most of the big money belongs to Torquil Paterson Frisby, the dyspeptic American millionaire--but that doesn't stop him wanting more out of it. His niece, the beautiful Ann Moon, is engaged to "Biscuit", Lord Biskerton, who doesn't have very much of the stuff and so he has to escape to Valley Fields to hide from his creditors. Meanwhile, his old school friend Berry Conway, who is working for Frisby, himself falls for Ann--just as Biscuit falls for her friend Kitchie Valentine. Life in the world of Wodehouse can sometimes become a little complicated.

Every line a happy amusement
Revisado: 12-18-22
Wodehouse at the top of his inventive yet familiar form, a surprise and a laugh in every line practically, The performance absolutely could not be improved upon, except maybe that the very British narrator’s American accent isn’t complete, but then neither is Wodehouse’s writing of American speech. Made me feel happy.

Historia
One of the most famous and influential books of its (or any) time, The Origin of Species is, surprisingly, little read. True enough, most people know what it says, or think they do, at any rate. The first comprehensive statement of the theory of natural selection, it does, indeed, provide the basic argument and demonstration of what we think of as Darwinism.

I loved it
Revisado: 06-10-10
We've heard it's work of genius, and listening to it shows that that's true.
I really liked the narrator. He's British, the book is British, he obviously cared a lot about what he was doing and practiced before he recorded. Very clear, easy to understand, properly inflected.
