Gideon Holiday is the perfect neighbor. Need a cup of sugar? Spare folding chair? Extra batteries? He's always ready to help. And he's waited years for his hot, grumpy, silver-fox neighbor, Paul, to need him. For anything. Adorably Holiday Fun

Great little story of uniquely flawed characters growing together and their sweet and sultry developing love. Narration is good and story is very sweet and engaging.

It was just going to be a quick vacation. A break from the demands of my job as a pediatric surgeon. I never thought she'd be there. Jessica Stein. My Jessa. The woman I left behind all those years ago is every bit as sexy now as she was then. I want her more than ever. Too bad she doesn't feel the same way. To her, I'm the guy who broke her heart and let her down. She thinks I'm the same player I used to be. She's wrong.

Emotional and heartfelt in a good way!
Revisado: 11-20-24
I like how the relationships grow, build and change over time. I love Dr Brandt and all the previous characters! Truth the previous series all had a lottle angst, but the heroine in this one was fairly frustrating. I guess you can make the case that being a young mom she needed to grow up more emotionally in the end but super frustrating on the journey! Maturity or not Warren was never the solution. Made her come across super selfish

Fun time! Romance with a twist
Revisado: 05-01-24
Thought this book was romance with a fun thriller twist, narration not bad (sped up to 1.3 x) enjoyed it from there. Nice character development and kept you guessing a bit. Fun read

I'm down to my last dollar. I live day-to-day in a world that doesn't care. Despite my bad luck, I'm a fighter. I never give up. I never stop trying. Ryan Parker's wealth and generosity set him apart from anyone I know. Yet, I don't trust him. It's nothing personal. I trust no one. But when my bad luck takes a turn for the worse, one person shows up. Ryan Parker. I do not understand why he bothered because the guy has enough of his own issues to deal with. But I don't have a choice. I need him. It's a matter of survival. His friendship changed everything. It changed me.

A little long but good story
Revisado: 05-01-24
I liked this book, good characters, nice character development over time. Bianca was annoying and frustrating it I guess that was the job of her character. Narration was terrible, I increased speed to 1.5x drastically improved female narration and made the male somewhat tolerable! Moved the story along and made it manageable. Would have been way too long on regular speed. Do recommend if you speed it up!

For Dee Kwan, every day is the perfect day. No, really. She has a house she loves, a job she adores, and a ridiculously attractive “nemesis” who never seems to mind when she wins their favorite online game. How can life possibly get better? (It can’t, obviously. It can only get much, much worse.) Soon Dee is forced to share her adorably cozy home with her parents and estranged grandmother. Then she’s tossed into the deep end at work, tasked with cleaning up a scandal for the intimidatingly chic luxury fashion firm Celeste. If that weren’t enough, she discovers her hot nemesis works there, too.

This was a very good read, the narration is very well done and I like this narrator. Phillipa has done other similar book’s by this author, Lily Chu. I highly recommend her other two books The Comeback and The Stand-in as well.

Historia
There were shadows I was running from. Ones that haunted and taunted. Ones that made it so I had no choice but to disappear. I’d spent years hiding from the world. My little island haven, the only assurance of safety. It all changed the moment he showed up at my door. The hint of pain in his eyes told me that something haunted him, too. And I couldn’t help but be drawn closer. But finding the person I needed most came with risks I never expected. And when our ghosts find us again, neither of us may make it out this time.

Why the change?
Revisado: 10-01-22
I have read both of Cindy’s series bodyguards and Black Ops. I really enjoyed all the books and especially the narrators. Aside from the narrator from the hispanic characters, whom many reviews criticized but I found tolerable when I sped up the reading to 1.2x. This the final book in the two series, as they are connected characters changed to a female narrator? I ask why? After 13 books narrated by men would you switch to a woman? In addition this book was the story of “mean” Joe Green. The female narrator wasn’t bad, especially when the reading was sped up, but it changed the story for me and the wrap up of the series. The story was good but the narration was disappointing.

Favorite in the series so far
Revisado: 09-16-22
This book is my favorite in the bodyguard series so far. All the books in this series are a little long and wordy for me, as others have stated. I get around that by speeding it up to 1.1 or 1.2x the speed. That fact aside, I really enjoy the series. The narrator is very enjoyable, story is good and keeps you guessing and characters are well developed and come across as very human, despite the rock star storyline. Jay and Janie have you rooting for them. Plenty of twists and turns. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great series but…
Revisado: 09-16-22
I have really been enjoying this bodyguard series, but as much as I looked forward to Ethan’s story I did not like Darcy’s character. As a heroine she was whiny and confusing. She often didn’t make any sense, plus she made the worse decisions. Not the best role model for the female population! Jay Wilsons “plowboy” story is next and was phenomenal so hang in there with this one, great narrator and overall good read just need to get past the heroine in this one.
