Historia
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

Easy fun read
Revisado: 03-30-24
Listened over about a week or two. It was fun, with some serious parts about mental health. The protagonist makes some dumb choices at times, which made part of it annoying to read, but I guess that’s gotta happen in a romcom.

This is helpful in thinking about oneself and those whom I can “love into becoming.”

Historia
At first, Logan Ramsay isn’t sure if anything’s different. He just feels a little . . . sharper. Better able to concentrate. Better at multitasking. Reading a bit faster, memorizing better, needing less sleep. But before long, he can’t deny it: Something’s happening to his brain. To his body. He’s starting to see the world, and those around him—even those he loves most—in whole new ways. The truth is, Logan’s genome has been hacked. And there’s a reason he’s been targeted for this upgrade.

Continued fun
Revisado: 12-29-17
The story continues with some old and some new characters, and builds upon the world of the last book. The whole Kitty Pong story line was great fun. It wasn't quite as good as the first book, but was very entertaining. I read it in one day.
My only complaint is that the narrator, who is better at differentiating the various Asian, English, American accents than the narrator of the first book, does an off-putting accent for Rachel. It's like she's a valley girl--as if!

Another fun book, great narrator
Revisado: 01-11-16
I enjoyed the first book in the series, so I was sure I would try the second. However, I waited a few months in between, and that probably helped me not to overdose on the alternate reality the author creates.
The narrator is great--his different voices for all the characters really helps make this book come alive (though there are times when Martin or Agent Murphy sounds a little "Jimmy").
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed the first one. I would recommend the series to anyone who might have a techie slant (at least someone who willingly uses computers).

In her famed TED talk, Sheryl Sandberg described how women unintentionally hold themselves back in their careers. Her talk, which has been viewed more than eleven million times, encouraged women to “sit at the table,” seek challenges, take risks, and pursue their goals with gusto.

Shouldn't judge until you've read it
Revisado: 09-21-13
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I didn't like how high-pitched the narrator's voice was. It sounded too young, almost girlish. After a while, I got used to it. It wasn't so bad that I stopped listening, but it was annoying.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It actually takes a while to digest and consider some of the points Sheryl Sandberg makes. I just finished it this week, and may go through and read it again soon. I don't agree with all of the points she makes, but some of them are definitely worth considering and discussing with others in my workplace.
Any additional comments?
I remember when this came out and she was on the interview circuit. A lot of TV pundits criticized her or the book without actually reading what she said--both liberals and conservatives. They probably had an intern read it and made a book report. It's works better has a whole, rather than isolated bullet points. I would recommend it to anyone who shares a workplace or a home with a woman or mother. There are points for both men and women to consider.
