Historia
Early in 1968, a nuclear-armed Soviet submarine sank in the waters off Hawaii, hundreds of miles closer to American shores than it should have been. Compelling evidence strongly suggests that the sub sank while attempting to fire a nuclear missile.

A rivetting tale
Revisado: 04-13-06
This is a listen I could hardly put down. The facts are hard to verify by myself but the scenarios are fascinating and have stimulated me to look up more on the subject in written form. An excellent listen especially for those interested in submarine-related political subterfuge and intrigue!

I could not put this down. A fascinating tale that made me want to find out more about the author and the subject. The former has written other books thast I have now bought and read as a result of this talking book. A very well worthwhile listen!

My Year in Iraq is the only senior insider's perspective on the crucial period following the collapse of Saddam Hussein's regime. In vivid, dramatic detail, Bremer reveals the previously hidden struggles among Iraqi politicians and America's leaders, taking us from the ancient lanes in the holy city of Najaf to the White House Situation Room and the Pentagon E-Ring.

The proconsul's view
Revisado: 03-20-06
This is a worthwhile listen as long as one bears in mind that the story is told from a very partisan outlook. It is interesting to realise that the viewpoint of those vanquished is often not considered in this account. At the same time, the altruistic intentions of the invasion comes through. At least someone had the guts to remove Saddam although the consequences of that removal were not foreseen. An enjoyable memoir, well read.

Historia
This book tells the story, for the first time, of the United States government's response to Guevara's ill-starred insurgency in Bolivia in 1967. Henry Butterfield Ryan argues that Guevara's life must be re-evaluated in light of secret documents only recently released by the CIA, the State Department, the Pentagon, and the National Security Council.

Poorly read
Revisado: 03-20-06
This is an interesting story of the subject albeit from a US government viewpoint. What detracts from the overall experience is the reader who under-emphasises the ends of sentences so as to make it often hard to understand in the sometimes inevitably noisy backgrounds where one listens to talking books(e.g in a car.) Still a worthwhile listen for those interested in Che Guevara.

An moving tale, excellently read that I could hardly put down. The interplay between the two readers is very well done. Listening to it makes me want to find out more about the patrol boats and their story as well as look for more Vietnamese memoirs of that time.

A great submarine story
Revisado: 09-18-05
As a fan of anything to do with submarines, I really enjoyed this riveting tale and could hardly put my iPod down until it was finished. The human side of the story is wonderfully told and the reader is excellent. This talking book is highly recommended.

Historia
Stephen Fry first traveled to Peru to investigate Paddington Bear's origins in the BBC documentary, Paddington Bear: The Early Years. However, the surprise star of the show turned out to be a real live bear named Yogi. He was a Spectacled Bear, so called due to the markings around his eyes, but had been captured by the people of a small village high in the Andes and had lived in a tiny cage, barely large enough for him to turn around in, for two years.

Amusing and superbly read by the author, this is more armchair travel than a study of the spectacled bear. There are lots of fascinating historical and political side stories. A superb talking book.
