Great professor, fix the PDF
Revisado: 10-14-22
The lectures have a visual component and the PDF does not make up for the lack of video. Fix the accompanying PDF and it will do the excellent professor justice. The video demonstrations sound interesting and it is a pity I cannot view them.

Historia
With all the passion, curiosity, and precise yet lyrical prose that have marked his previous books, Alan Lightman here explores the emotional and philosophical questions raised by discoveries in science, focusing most intently on the human condition and the needs of humankind. He looks at the difficult dialogue between science and religion, the conflict between our human desire for permanence and the impermanence of nature, the possibility that our universe is simply an accident, the manner in which modern technology has separated us from direct experience of the world, and our resistance to the view that our bodies and minds can be explained by scientific logic and laws.

Intriguing meditation
Revisado: 09-29-22
Lightman jumps between meditation and science but could better connect them, ignores emergent properties/complexity theory.

Historia
At just over 5,000 years old, writing is actually a relatively recent invention. It has become so central to the way we communicate and live, however, that it often seems as if writing has always existed. But the question remains: Who invented writing, and why?In these 24 fascinating lectures, you'll trace the remarkable saga of the invention and evolution of "visible speech," from its earliest origins to its future in the digital age.

Good course, fix the accompanying PDF
Revisado: 09-17-22
The accompanying PDF is lacks many visual examples to which the lecturer refers in the text. Sections describing specific inscriptions and texts are functionally impossible to follow without the visual element. The other parts are clear and interesting.
