I love this series and I am so happy that it now has an audio companion. I hope the rest of the books in the series get the same treatment

Everything I love about Lucy Lennox

This is everything I want from a Lucy Lennox novel. This is why I fell in love with the Made Marian Series. The MC’s are both lovable and sweet. The romance buds under extraordinary circumstances but both main characters are just amazing men. I love the slow burn and just all of the feels. 5 stars! And Michael Dean is wonderful as always.

Amazing narration and a climactic end to the first story arch of this series. It gets so much better and darker. Keep listening…it is totally worth continuing!

Extremely Problematic

This book is a gateway to misogyny and rips offs of other popular fiction. I am new to Lit/RPG and I think I lucked out with my initial first tries. This book started out to be interesting but there are hints of misogyny that later bud and bloom. The narration is quite good and the very cheap companion price for the audible version caused me to buy the series at one go. BIG MISTAKE. The Inner Pig asides are such a 50 shades of grey Inner Goddess rip off that I cringed every time I listened (I cringed when I read that in 50 shade of grey). The first book is very true to gaming in regards to the off handedness and quick to form relations that can happen with online gaming but there is a true callousness towards women that evolves into pick-up artist at best and incel behavior at worst regards towards women.

I absolutely enjoyed this story and had read it via kindle unlimited but the narration is amazing. The voices are distinct and very sexy. I have added Zane Daniels to my watchlist for audiobooks.

We FINALLY get to see Justin get ALL THE FEELS!!!

I have been waiting for this hilarious installment of the Tales of Verania since it was first hinted at on TJ's website. I am so happy that we finally get Justin's POV and it reveals that the Ice Prince is really a prickly, secretly gooey centered, arrogant asshole with a heart a of gold. I fell in love with the Lightning-Struck Heart because Sam of Wilds is an amazingly comical, unreliable narrator. I have a thing for romantic unreliable narration in my fiction. It creates a lot of fun misunderstandings and truly unique viewpoints. In the Damning Stone we get to observe Justin's regretful, reluctant, and Best Friend 5eva relationship with Sam. Deep, deep down Justin loves Sam like a little brother and also enjoys all of the adventures that Sam drags him into. I won't go into the spoilers but just know that TJ Klune and Michael Lesley do an amazing job to keep you laughing, cringing, crying, and listening on the edge of your seats.

Dual POV makes this an interesting departure

I love Mary Calmes. Her characters are endearing and her MC POV’S are largely unreliable which makes for a fun read. This is the first time we get a viewpoint from both main characters. Not sure if this will continue but I do feel like this book benefited from a dual POV. Greg Boudreaux is an amazing narrator as always!

Dystopian so......Be prepared to be uncomfortable/horrified

At about three hours in I definitely appreciate the trigger warnings. Absolutely feel guiltless if you want Alex, his family, and his friends to die in a fire. The conditions of slavery are stark, this is not a romantic setting. It is insidious and bleak. Beautifully narrated from dual POV’s but crammed with a society of villains. Elisha exists as a flickering flame in the backdrop of unrepentant oppression. Alex’s flailing attempts to fully dehumanize Elisha is...uncomfortable. A history of oppression, false superiority, and moral platitudes that are still used as excuses to dismiss the impoverished to this day. The early on horror is that Alex is bent on building a better mousetrap to kill free will permanently. I have read reviews that compare this to the hunger games but I would consider this to be a very twisted version of “My Fair Lady”. The revelations, rebellions, and eventual revolution do not reverse the world. I approve of this subtlety because a dystopian world should not be fixed by definition. The world’s faults can be defined and accentuated but never solved.

True Snark Conquers All

Alice Winters strikes again! This book has all the snark, shenanigans, and banter that make me literally laugh out loud. On that note be careful when/where you are reading this. You may end up spraying liquids during a coffee break or scaring fellow commuters on your way to and from work. Michael Ferraioulo does an excellent job narrating the whole cast of characters. This book is absolutely worth a credit.
