Historia
The world's religions affirm it to be so and recent research across a number of disciplines tell us that "Helping others not only benefits those we assist but is good for us as well." The recent and astonishingly generous outpouring of help and donations in response to the earthquake in Haiti is a clear demonstration of this phenomenon, but what if we could be convinced to make helping others a way of life, even when times are hard?

Wonderful Book
Revisado: 04-29-14
Intelligently written, very-well narrated, this was a very solid listen. Admittedly, I went into it not expecting much. The author struck a chord with me, however, in terms of the benefits of helping.Turned out to be a wonderful book.

Historia
Why can some of us overcome life's greatest trials while others become burdened by the slightest setback? What factors help some adults bounce back from adversity while others languish in feelings of helplessness and hopelessness? And what exactly is the inner strength that some people simply exude in their daily lives? Such people possess a powerful quality called resilience.

Could have been so much better. Kind of rambles. Way too focused on recounting the authors therapy sessions with clients. "Succeeding When Your Supposed To Fail" by Rom Brafman is very similar by WAY better.

Excellent
Revisado: 04-24-13
The best book on this topic I've ever read (or listened to). Smart, reasonable, and very well organized. Almost didn't make this purchase but am really glad I did. Only issue is that the narrators have heavy English accents, which, if not from UK, can be a little tricky to get used for those of us on this side of the Pond.

Historia
For the past few decades, Americans have spent billions of dollars on personal finance products. As salaries have stagnated and companies have cut back on benefits, we've taken matters into our own hands, embracing the can-do attitude that if we're smart enough, we can overcome even daunting financial obstacles. But that's not true. In this meticulously reported and shocking audiobook, journalist and former financial columnist Helaine Olen goes behind the curtain of the personal finance industry to expose the myths, contradictions, and outright lies it has perpetuated.

Very, Very Disappointing
Revisado: 03-21-13
I so wanted to like this. But, to call it disappointing would be an understatement. Really, Helaine? Is everybody trying to scam the consuming public? Really? Is it possible to add value to lives and still make a buck? Your book reminds me of the quote by Oscar Wilde: “A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything, and the value of nothing.”

The principles are sound, and nicely sum up Dr. Covey's key philosophies. But, it doesn't work well as an audio.

Every day, random encounters really can change lives, when you make them happen the right way and leverage the connection at the other end. Talk to Strangers explains how to stand out and tap the potential of others by taking notice of who is standing alongside you on the bank line, the latte pickup point, or the ticket counter at the airport. David Topus' life-changing message is that we should "always connect".

A New Low.
Revisado: 12-22-12
I was intrigued in purchasing this Audio Book, as I thought..with such a simple premise, there has to be some sort of valuable insight, or a twist on how to intereact with people. Boy was I wrong! This had all of the quality and sophistication of a 1950's-era- educational film on how the earth "is round." Not only does Mr. Topus confirm by his very writings that he manipulates people and settings for his personal business agenda, he undermines the very premise of this book, that all people have something to offer. Apparently not. Stunningly bad book. I do give it one star for this reason -- clearly, Mr. Topus walks his talk. Only through a "random connection" could he have come into contact with someone high enough in a publishing house could this book have been published.

Interesting Happiness Ideas
Any additional comments?
Great take on what it is about money that bring us happiness. However, the narrator is very weak. One of the few times where the narration significant detracts fromt the overall experience of the audiobook

Would you consider the audio edition of Extraordinary Leadership to be better than the print version?
I honestly don't know what others are talking about this being self-promoting. It's actually quite a good listen with concise, insightful, thoughts. Surprisingly good, and I wasn't expecting much.
