Historia
October 2023 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, a conflict that shaped the modern Middle East. The War was a trauma for Israel, a dangerous superpower showdown, and, following the oil embargo, a pivotal reordering of the global economic order. The Jewish State came shockingly close to defeat. After the war, Prime Minister Golda Meir resigned in disgrace, and a 9/11-style commission investigated the "debacle." But, argues Uri Kaufman, from the perspective of a half century, the War can be seen as a pivotal victory for Israel.

Great Narration - comprehensive viewpoint
Revisado: 10-26-24
Great insight into not only the battlefield decisions, but also the political ones during an important modern conflict. Lessons abound in this agenda-free assessment of what happened, why it happened and the interactions of the decision-makers. Very different conflict from 1967 War. Because it lasted a bit longer, the role of the Superpower benefactors was larger in driving the end of the war.

Historia
June 5, 1967: The fearsome, Soviet-equipped Egyptian Army and its 1000 tanks are massed on Israel's southern border. Meanwhile, the Syrian Army is shelling the much smaller nation from the north. And to the east, Jordan and Iraq are moving brigades and fighter squadrons into position to attack. Egypt's President Nasser has declared that the Arab world's goal is no less than "the destruction of Israel."

Intimate Personal Stories of an Incredible Moment in History.
Revisado: 10-21-24
I am fairly literate with the Six Day War and wrote my Master’s Thesis on the Moked Air Campaign. For anyone interested in the Six Day War - this is an incredible and personally intimate story told by many individuals in many different locations and roles during the War. It is a fantastic historical work and Mr Pressfield has done everyone a valuable service that will stand the test of time. From an historical perspective and from a military perspective these Six Days of History are amazing, dramatic, heroic, and decisive. But it is a story of individuals making key decision at the right moment. I highly recommend this for anyone with even a slight interest. The narration in the Audible version is outstanding and might be the best I have ever heard in an Audible book. Well done and thank you!

Historia
Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Historia
Investigative journalist Matthew Cole tells the story of the most lauded unit, SEAL Team 6, revealing a troubling pattern of war crimes and the deep moral rot beneath authorized narratives. From their origins in World War II, the SEALs have trained to be specialized killers with short missions. As the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan became the endless War on Terror, their violence spiraled out of control. Code Over Country details the high-level decisions that unleashed the SEALs’ carnage and the coverups that prevented their crimes from coming to light.

Excellent Narration Quality
Revisado: 06-08-24
Examination of the origin and evolution organizational culture is fascinating and important. That culture can change and evolve over time. The author does a fantastic job of examining the origins and the structure (roles and functions of officers vs enlisted for example) and illuminating why secrecy and insularity as well as the high optempo can at times lead to behavior that is corrosive ethically and morally. He also presents great examples of how cultural problems can fester, linger and grow when not dealt with directly and early. This is about a military organization - but the lessons are universally applicable. Kudos for the details and the production quality of the audiobook. There are great takeaways of organizational culture for everyone from this book.
After I was a squadron commander I worked as a Facilitator for the Naval Safety Center doing Aviation Culture Workshops for quite a few years. One of the stated purposes - the main one - was to “positively affect the culture of Naval Aviation over time” by focusing on: communication, trust and integrity of the unit. It was a very successful program and greatly improved the post-Tailhook Naval Aviation Community and maybe something similar could be used in Naval Special Warfare too.

Prepared overturns today’s paranoid survival wisdom and teaches the foundational skills of preparedness that will not only help you build situational awareness and achieve greater mobility but that will also help you build resilient mental habits.

Important Message ignored at your peril
Revisado: 06-24-23
In a disaster - responsible citizenship requires that you aspire to be part of the solution and to not compound the problem, by needing assistance because of poor planning. Mike’s message of being an asset and not a liability during challenging and dangerous situations is simple and important for all to consider. His book is a concise and organized guide to help you move into the “asset” category - where you are prepared and capable of helping your family and community and away from the “liability” category where your lack of preparation has compounded the problem for others who must come to your aid. Mike has given us all a great gift with this book. Let’s follow his guidance. Well done Mike Glover!

Excellent rendition of a historically important event
Revisado: 12-11-22
The narration by Holter Graham was outstanding and I am glad that he was selected to narrate. Well done. I thought the story was rendered in a very sincere fashion that reflected humility with an insight into the author’s personal motivations. The portrayal of the team relationships was not over-dramatized but illuminated the informal professional bond and that Teamwork, not only by the assaulters but by every player - was the key to success. Highly recommend this audible rendition of an important story.
