My favorite so far

This is my favorite Hayley Powell mystery so far. Even though I was pretty sure "who done it" from the near beginning, it had so many twists and turns and red herrings that it kept me interested until the end. The narrator slowed down a bit and actually used the punctuation which added to much of the delivery. I'm looking forward to book 11!

The quaint fishing village of Salmon Cove, Maine, seems like the ideal location for a girls' weekend with Hayley's gal pals, Liddy and Mona. Liddy's on the rebound from a breakup, but when she meets a handsome tourist, it looks like a little romance might liven things up. Unfortunately, Liddy's new sweetheart is found dead on the beach the next morning at the town's Lobster Bake, next to an overturned cooking pot. The liberated lobsters may be scrambling back to the sea, but Hayley's not about to let a murderer escape so easily.

I love these books..... but the narration......

Another fun mystery with Haley and the girls. I enjoyed the story, just as I have all of the Hayley Powell mysteries, but the narrator speaks too quickly and misses a lot of the humor. I've really enjoyed listening to this series while I commute or make dinner or whatever, but I may have to go back to strictly reading the books so that I can once again thoroughly enjoy the stories and entertaining dialogue.

I can relate

This first book is a great start to a fun cozy mystery that is easy to read or listen. Much like Hayley, I too am a single mom of teens who drives a white Subaru and lives in a tourist town. I also have a couple of best friends that share a few traits with Mona and Liddy. These commonalities made it easy to relate to Hayley's internal dialogue, and probably made me more vested in the story. I love the narrator's performance. She really gave the characters personality. The attached pdfs are great, I've enjoyed trying the food and drink recipes. These are great stories to sit and read or listen to while sipping a cocktail and making dinner!

Still, the haunted holiday is about to get a whole lot scarier after Danny's moonshine - making uncle is found lying dead next to a tombstone in a cemetery - and Danny quickly becomes the prime suspect. To prove her ex is innocent, Hayley will have to dig deep into her own bag of tricks to unmask the real culprit.

I read/listened to the previous 7 books in this series and thoroughly enjoyed them. The story was still pretty good, but the audible narration was not. The reader spoke too quickly and rushed through the story.
