It’s so good- until it’s not

I was all in with this story & thought for sure I was going to keep this one in my library as a great book that I would listen to over and over again……& then I listened to the last 20 minutes and it took me a bit to gather my jaw off the floor-not because of a major plot twist, not because it was an ending that I didn’t see coming & not because a character that I loved died…….but rather, because there was basically no ending at all. It seemed like the author decided she was ready to move on to something else and just ended it all, right.then. I was so frustrated at the “non-ending” that I felt a bit broken hearted. The story was so good up until it just abruptly stopped leaving a mountain of questions and things that made you say “wait what about….”.
I’m disappointed if you can’t tell. 😑

Too much GD, not enough action

I’m debating on wether I should give the second book a chance and see if the action picks up any. That being said, I can barely make it through the first book because there is so much use of the word “G-damn” that I am cringing. I understand that it might be thrown in here and there, but this is almost every other sentence and it’s unnecessary. It’s even used in places that wouldn’t be considered the “norm”.

I was really into this series until…..

The first book was really good! I came into this one excited to continue on with the story, but I’m having a REALLY hard time getting past this “every man’s fantasy” that at the end of the world, one young man is having sex with all these beautiful young ladies….oh and all of them are totally fine with it….even his gf. His gf is in fact ENCOURAGING it & they are hoping to be “one big family”. There is some implication (not sure if it will or won’t happen) that Zach is going to father kids with all these young ladies and honestly- it’s gross. I keep trying to get through the story because the rest of it is really good, but every time we come to a scene where he is sleeping with one or another or his gf is telling him “you should kiss so and so” I gag, roll my eyes and I turn it off. I guess this is where I will have to leave this series.

Excited for what’s to come

This was a good book, especially if you like stories about viruses 🦠! Those happen to be my favorite type of medical thrillers, and this was right up my alley. A good amount of action, the plot moved at a good pace and made sense in terms of medically being possible, I don’t know that I was super invested in the characters at the beginning, but by the end of the book, I was wanting more of their stories. Hopefully, there will be more books within this world and we will get to revisit Mallory and Park, especially!

Don’t pass on this one

I was initially intrigued by the “small town, group of friends” bit, because it’s one of my favorite types of story. I’m glad I got this one. It has lots of nostalgia from the good ole days, again high on my list of things I like. I do sort of feel like I wanted more though. I can’t quite put my finger on what exactly - the build up was good, so I don’t think it’s fair to ask for more of that, but then again I would have been ok with more build up too….. maybe I want more meat in the climax? Or maybe the story was just that good and I just want more. I’m obviously kind of torn on this one.

I kept going back and forth on who I thought was the bad one

About a 1/4 or the way into this book, I thought I had it figured out. Thennnn I flip flopped and was like “no it’s this”. Then about half way through I was like “oh yeah it’s definitely this!” And then 3/4 of the way I was like “wait a second….:” and then with only a couple chapters left, I’m like “ok yeah, I thought that was fishy” …..”ok yeah that makes sense” and then……I listened to the epilogue and wellllll……let’s just say good to the very last sentence….very last word in fact

This series is the absolute best!!!!!

This is one of my absolute favorite series! When I realized there was a new book out, I practically tripped trying to cash in my credit fast enough. This is book 16 and let me tell you…..this one and all the other 15 are so worth it! If you do the yearly subscription and have 12 credits, buy 4 extra credits and spend every dang one on getting all these books. I am hoping and praying that book 17 will be out soon! I don’t think I can ever get enough of David Wolf and the Sluice-Byron county crew. And please please please I hope they never change narrators because as far as I’m concerned- Sean Patrick Hopkins IS David wolf!

I’m hoping there might be another book following these same characters, I would love to see what they are up to! This book was really interesting, entertaining and left you wanting to know what was going to happen next. I finished it in 2 days!
