Great World and Story
Revisado: 08-26-19
The story and the performance are great. Unfortunately, there are some editing 'artifacts' where problems were not edited out. These editing problems have a minor effect on the immersion in the story. The performance is great and otherwise worth 5 stars.
The world-building is awesome in this series. The timeline of this story intertwines with the second book in the series enriching both stories and really fleshing out the world building. The flashbacks are handled well and are done in such a way that the mystery is preserved for as long as possible. Each character is distinct and unique (even the minor ones) with a backstory that is evocative and again enriches the world-building.
The combination of mystery, adventure, world-building and character building make a very enjoyable story.
I highly recommend this anyone interested in far future, other world, alternative history, and steampunk.
I am looking forward to continuation of this series.

Historia
His romantic weekend in ruins, shy 20-something artist Perry Foster learns that things can always get worse when he returns home from San Francisco to find a dead body in his bathtub. A dead body in a very ugly sportscoat - and matching socks. The dead man is a stranger to Perry, but that's not much of a comfort; how did a strange dead man get in a locked flat at the isolated Alton Estate in the wilds of the 'Northeast Kingdom' of Vermont? Perry turns to help from 'tall, dark and hostile' former navy SEAL Nick Reno.

I am in love with this story
Revisado: 09-05-15
The characters are incredibly complex and not at all what you believe them to be when you start to listen/read this book. Like 'real' people these characters are very complex, and like good friends, you get to know them over time. In this case the time span occurs over the span of story. The characters are revealed as the story continued. They are revealed not by just the words of the story but also by their actions within the story. The mystery is a very nice and well done way to see these people interact. The performance is great, each character distinct and very well acted. Every new book I pick up by Josh Lanyon leaves me spell bound. Every character distinct, every story enjoyable. This particular story will probably become one of my favorites.

Historia
Weber Yates's dreams of stardom are about to be reduced to a ranch hand’s job in Texas, and his one relationship is with a guy so far out of his league he might as well be on the moon. Or at least in San Francisco, where Weber stops to see him one last time before settling down to the humble, lonely life he figures a frog like him has coming.

Incredibly heartwarming story!
Revisado: 09-05-15
Incredibly heartwarming story. The story and the performance make beautiful poetry in this audio book. Frog is now one of my favorites and I cant wait to listen to it again. There are beautiful scenes that made me want to cry and laugh at the same time. The emotional parts are beautifully balanced with humor and wit. The story is carried in what is not written as well as what is written (the story between and beyond the lines). Incredibly well written matched by an incredible performance. Mr. Kelly's performance was perfect for this story.

Truly excellent book! Well worth listening to.
Revisado: 08-23-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely, although I think that not everyone would get the intelligence. The humor is probably accessible to everyone.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Jhereg?
The scenes that reference other parts of the main story arcs. Like the visions Vlad has while doing the witchcraft spell to find the bad guy.
Have you listened to any of Bernard Setaro Clark’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No. I really liked his performance in this book. His voices brought the characters to life and generally seem to fit the characters themselves. His excellent performance complimented this smartly written book.
Any additional comments?
A great book, just as good now as when I first read it years ago. The performance really brought the book to life. This definitely worth the use of a credit. I had forgotten how charming I found Vlad Taltos when I first discovered this book. The book itself is funny, intelligent, and set in a very thoroughly conceived and complex world. The most amazing thing about this book (and the series) is the re-readability of it. I have read it several times in the past, and now listened to it once. I plan on listening to the rest of the series in the original publication order, and then going back to either read or listen to the series in chronological order. The book is even more enjoyable to me now as mid forties adult as it was to me in my early to mid 20's.

Another excellent adventure!
Revisado: 03-25-11
As always, Brockmann's book is awesome and so is the narration by Lawlor and Raudman. Yes there are topics that are uncomfortable; child abuse in many situatations both in the present of the book and in the characters past, alcoholism, etc... But the book is also about communication and miscommunication, trust and not trusting. I don't believe that Brockmann is portraying and anti-christianity message. I think her characters usually either believe in God (in the Christian sense) or come to some kind of understanding with a "God"-like power. There is only one minor character in the book that seems to use Christianity as an excuse for evil. The religious beliefs or lack of belief of most of the other characters (including the main characters) is a mystery to the reader/listener.
Each character has a very clear voice in the writing and in the narration of the audio version. The story flows and is exciting. And sometimes the characters are annoying, which is one of the reasons why I love them so much. Like real people they make sometimes dumb decisions and sometimes great ones. And like all of us they struggle with themselves and getting to an understanding their place in life and who they are.
The narrators are superb. They create a world where it is very easy to understand each point of view and when that point of view shifts. The format of having a male and female narrator works so well for all of Brockmann???s books. Her stories are more interesting due to the shifts in points of view and the way that each characters ???voice??? shows through. I really like the domestic tensions in this book. It puts a different spin on the thrilling romance part of the story. They story is excellent and different than the other books in the series. I find it amazing that after 16 books, I will be first in line for book #17 when Brockmann returns to writing about this incredible group of people.
