First I love Alec's voice and would listen to any book he would narrate.

I am a fan of TLC as well and always enjoyed when he was a host and guest of TLC. His information on actors and films are wonderful. I love to hear about behind the scenes info. Alex in his book shared his knowledge of other actors/actresses. His praise of other artist's talents and works is appreciated.

Alec is very candid about his life and work. It is never easy to share your life with others. You open yourself up to being judged for your mistakes. He has not always been a prince in his life and I think most of us would have to admit we have not been prince/princesses ourselves. I think it is always best to tell it as it is especially from yourself - it's your story after all. Thank you Alec.

It is nice to hear that Alec finally meet and married a wonderful woman. His new family life sounds great. As well as his relationship with his first daughter. I am glad to hear that this relationship is good. Alec was very brave to open up about his challenging divorce and admit his own wrongs in the journey.

I loved hearing about his early life about his mom and dad. Obviously this was not a perfect family but a 50s family. I can relate to this time period. There was much love and lots of challenges in his family relationships.

Thank you for sharing your life Alec.

Great Book as always!!!

I am a fan of Michael Connelly's novels. I am glad there is now a TV series based on his novels. This is fantastic recognition for his books I am sure. This novel had twists within twists. Just when you were thinking things were over another part of the story picked up. Exciting and fast moving as always, I am on a marathon audio read to catch on my reading of these great detective books. Highly recommend Michael Connelly's books to anyone interested in these types of stories. And great narrator, Peter Giles, I wasn't sure if I was going to like a new narrator for this novel. Peter did a great job. I will be happy to listen to him narrate another Harry Bosch book. Thanks Michael and Peter for a great experience.

Great suspenseful novel

I read the previous , Faithful Place. I really enjoyed it and liked its hero, Frank. Frank is a small part in this book. I also liked the previous narrator. At first I was not wild about the narrator but she grew on me and was perfect for this novel. I am now a fan of this author. This story is different and suspenseful. The characters are well developed and interesting. I encourage others to jump in and try this novel out.

Surprising detective story

Well written detective story. The story keeps building to the end. Just when you think where the story is going it goes in a different direction. I like the PI. He is older and flawed. The narrator was well suited to the storyline. I would easily 'read/listen to another novel by this author.

Really an interesting book.

This could be a great idea for a TV series or movie. I really like this book and loved Zachary Quinto's narration. I truly hope this is the beginning of a series. Totally enjoyed and a must listen for others

Love Bryce

Bryce Courtenay writes beautiful words to describe the most deplorable situations. This book is about an alcoholic, a boy and a cat which connects them. Bryce takes you into the world of alcoholism and drugs and poverty like no other author. But Bryce always writes to uplift the hearts and souls. This book is no different . As much as the subject matter is unpleasant it is also uplifting. Thank you Bryce and Humphrey for your narration.

For the love of friendship

This is a great book about friendship over a lifetime. Bryce always brings out the best and the worst in our human natures. He has always written to enlighten us about prejudice, war, poverty and human relationships. This book was a gift to read/listen to about two most unlikely people to meet and form a lifetime friendship. It is a story of courage, sadness, disappointment and mostly love. I will miss Bryce's writing, may his books remain alive for many more decades.

Great Book as always!!!

This is one is one of the shortest Bryce Courtney's books but definitely never disappointing. Bryce always writes to enlighten his public. If one has never serviced in war and lived after the experience, Bryce is an author to make the experience real for others. He always has a message in his writing and is always up lifting. He will be missed. Thank you Bryce!!!

Bryce's books don't disappoin

I will truly miss this author with his rich imagination and is love for the common good in all people. He has always written for the down trodden. He was opened up doors to understanding war and those that fought in the war and the prisoners of war. I sincerely hope his books will be read for many years going forward.
Bryce had a great gift for language and this book as per his others are always rich. I loved this child. And I would have loved a book sequel to know continuation of his life. Alas this is not to be. So I do highly recommend that others enjoy this novel as much as I have. Thank you Bryce and also Humphrey Bower, for you beautiful narration.

Love Alan Cumming!!!

I love listening to Alan Cumming read. Not all authors can or should read their own material. Alan can. This book you could really get Alan's fun side. I listened to his previous book which I totally loved. This book was definitively lighter. Keep on writing Alan!!!
