Historia
From the first moment I see Mason Boone, I can't take my eyes off him. Everyone's got a different story about the gorgeous, silent man in chains. He's a hero, a former Navy SEAL. He's a fugitive, on his way to a court martial. He's a loner, a mountain man who hasn't spoken to another soul in years. But when our plane crashes deep in the Alaskan wilderness, he becomes my only hope. I'm an FBI agent and he's a prisoner, but to survive the wild animals, fierce weather, and unforgiving terrain, I must put my faith in him.

Not super realistic
Revisado: 01-18-20
But who cares when it’s that hot. The storyline wasn’t believable at all really, but that doesn’t mean it was a bad story. I was riveted. Definitely hooked on knowing how they’d get themselves out of each debacle. There were several twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. The performance was perfect. Overall, just what I look for when I’m ready to escape

Decent but formulaic
Revisado: 02-16-17
I listened to the first in this series and then this one. The narration for both of them was natural and on point. I am not disappointed at all in the performance of these books.
As far as the story goes, I mostly didn't have any problems. However, I think the creation of the deaf character was totally unnecessary and unrealistic. I'm picky about deaf characters because I'm a professional in the Deaf community. I get asked on a weekly basis if my students can lip read and the short answer is not accurately. There is no way Jared and Mara could've had that conversation with the deaf character without some sort of visual support. IF she was deaf and not hard of hearing. But I know I'm being picky. Soap box rant over!
The only other issue I had was that the conflict was almost nonexistent, lasted about five minutes, and felt forced, just to fit the formula of a romance book.
But if you're the kind of person who mainly listens to this book for the sexy bits, these things won't interfere ;)
This book also did a good job creating suspense about Evan. I definitely plan to listen to the book about him soon.

The narrator can make an audiobook...or break it
Revisado: 09-26-16
This story had a decent storyline, but I struggled to get past the narration. I felt like my grandma was reading me a bedtime story. Each word was pronounced with precision, and it did not sound natural. There was hardly any voice distinction between characters, so I kept getting lost.
The story was somewhat hard to follow with all of the characters. None of the characters had much depth. I was enticed by the tag line of a character who blogs about home decor and such, but that was barely part of the story.
All in all, it was a disappointment.

In for the long haul
Revisado: 04-20-16
I am definitely in for the long haul with this series! After several duds from Amazon/Audible, I'm excited to find another series to invest in!
Even though I don't prefer stories from the third person point of view, I was still able to get inside the characters' heads.
The balance between Carlotta's story and Wesley's story was perfect. They intertwined gracefully.
The whodunit was unexpected, but believable. The motive was a little weak, but that's not stopping me from getting the next one!
This book had just the right amount of mystery and just the right amount of romance.
I only gave 4 stars to the performance because of the narrator's pronunciation of the word "garage." Definitely not a Georgian girl!

You can't fight City Hall. All Mitzy Neuhaus wants to do is get back to business as usual, but "The Worst Economy Since The Great Depression" has slowed her real estate business to a near standstill. She can't spare any more time or money for the ailing agency until she has rehabilitated the old Victorian on Baltimore street into an inn that can pay its own way. The excessive interest of the FBI, city planners, and possibly organized crime threaten Mitzy's career, romance and way of life.

Not my cup of tea
Revisado: 04-17-16
This book was so boring! I drive a lot, so audiobooks help keep me awake. Not this one!
Not only did it put me to sleep, but it was also so scattered that I could barely follow the storyline.
The story was all over the place, and completely unbelievable. Mitzy's life is too perfect--a millionaire at 30, the owner of multiple properties, a family that loves her, and a great boyfriend. Even the "fights" are resolved within minutes. She is too nice to be realistic.
Mitzy takes no chances in this book. I was never on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what would happen next.
The plot line didn't really even make sense--it was a convoluted mess of Russian mafia and a corrupt city councilman who really had nothing to do with Mitzy.
All of the characters were flat and too nice for their own good.
I read the first book in this series, but I was still lost on some of the relationships in this book. There was no background, whatsoever.
I will NOT be reading the next one of these.
The only positive thing I can say is that it is a clean book. No unnecessary violence or sex or language. However, without ANY of those things, there was also no spice.
The narrator sounded more like a newscaster than a performer. She only had two voices: a man's voice, and a woman's voice. I could not distinguish between characters within the same sex.

Best one yet
Revisado: 04-04-16
I have listened to 3/4 books in this series so far. This one is the best one yet!
Books with supernatural characters are not normally my cup of tea, but I decided to try it out because of my proximity to and familiarity with the places in this series. (My alma mater was even mentioned in the first book!)
The guardian spirit and the psychics don't add much to the story for me, and sometimes I feel that the heroine gets credit for solving crimes that she does not solve on her own. I feel that it takes away from Liz as a character.
Because of this, I was on the fence about buying this book after the second one. I'm 100% glad I went ahead and got it!
The balance between Liz's own investigative skills and Colleen's help was much better. I felt like Liz actually put her profession to use, with only a couple of hints from Colleen.
The plot was also the most intriguing so far. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, and I could hardly put it down!
I wasn't a huge fan of the two-year jump between the last book and this book. I was also not a huge fan of some rather important news that was just casually thrown into the story. But neither of these things detracted from the main plot line.
Looking forward to the next one!

Not a nail biter
Revisado: 03-24-16
I had high hopes for this southern mystery. I love to collect things (though not of that high value!), so I was looking forward to a series I could connect with, like Victoria Hamilton's Vintage Kitchen Mysteries.
Unfortunately, the writing style didn't jive with me. The plot was fine, and I really enjoyed the somewhat unconventional ending, but I just wasn't on the edge of my seat.
I didn't feel that the characters had real depth. Maybe they are better developed in later books.
I appreciate that the narrator did not attempt a "southern" accent. She had good character distinction, but her voice felt very sing-songy--a little too calm for the plot. I don't plan to seek out other books narrated by her, but I won't avoid them either.
I don't regret purchasing this book, but I don't plan to buy the next in the series.

Revisado: 02-18-16
This was a cute story, but it didn't have a lot of substance. I was never on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what happened next. I never really felt like Luvie had anything to lose. Her mom was supposed to be this dreadful woman, but she always seemed to want what was best for Luvie. All of the "problems" were solved in an unrealistic timely manner. It was just too neat and tidy for me.
