Historia
When the enslaved Jim overhears that he is about to be sold to a man in New Orleans, separated from his wife and daughter forever, he decides to hide on nearby Jackson Island until he can formulate a plan. Meanwhile, Huck Finn has faked his own death to escape his violent father, recently returned to town. As all readers of American literature know, thus begins the dangerous and transcendent journey by raft down the Mississippi River toward the elusive and too-often-unreliable promise of the Free States and beyond.

I listened to it in two days. Fantastic.
Revisado: 01-15-25
This book brought me back to all the storylines and details of Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Finn. Hearing the other story/the other side of the story was incredibly well read, well written and captivating. I have no idea how much of this is based in any truth, but it is a fantastic story nonetheless.

The local attitude and phrases and humor of Ireland prevailed in this book.
Revisado: 12-03-24
I absolutely loved the local humor and phrases and attitudes. It’s not a heavy tight, focused plot, but it is fantastic characters and a view into the life in rural Ireland. Absolutely loved it. It was perfectly red, and the writing was exquisite.

A perfect western with all the elements.
Revisado: 08-11-24
Such a good story. Very well narrated and bizarre enough and extreme enough to make you both wonder and believe. The comparison Of the middle 1800s and the amount of communication and information that we now have access to made lives so much less predictable. And so much less controllable. This is a well written tale and immediately engaging. I would actually like to write an alternate ending, but this ending suited the story and suited the timeline.

This book is so well organized to show how the universe helps shape up our lives to have meaning. A fascinating story that includes the pain of honesty and the risk of honesty as well. How are legal system and our prison system works against progress and freedom. it’s a story of personal responsibility and change and multiple failures. well written and enjoyable and fascinating and educational. I loved every minute of it.

I’m better understanding of the effect of the Viet Nam war
Revisado: 07-08-24
This was not what I expected because it is done in the form of a novel, following one particular heroic army nurse. I felt so invested in her and everybody else who took a role in the war like she did that by the end of this book, I literally had tears running down my face. I have never had such an emotional response to normal. I was in junior high in high school during the Vietnam war. It was another time of polarization within the population of the United States. I think that hindsight and understanding and listening helps unify us. Maybe we experience that again very soon. This is a wonderful book. I would refer to it as cliché only in that it touches on all of the topicsthat were current during that time and are still current now. I’m really grateful I chose this book and for the author who did such a great job with it.

The narration of this book is unsurpassed!
Revisado: 05-16-24
The reading of it by Meryl Streep was masterful and worth listening to the entire book. It truly is the reason that I could not stop listening. A professional on that level made the entire book a joy. The story was subtle and quiet as the author is known for. There is no great riveting plot. It’s a story again like the Dutch House about people and their lives and their values. If you’re looking for a rip roaring action plot, this is not your ticket.I enjoyed the entire book, but I must say that the narrator totally wins the prize

A perfect book for a teenage audience… Young teenage audience
Revisado: 05-03-24
Perhaps I didn’t read the title details well enough. Way too.” young, teenage love and drama.” For my taste. I gave up a few hours in and then turned it back on because I couldn’t find anything else at the moment.
