I absolutely love the relationship between Eragon and Saphira.

The idea of being able to communicate with a companion animal has always drawn me to read the story. Christopher Paolini spun an amazing tale of a dragon and her rider. Their adventures are amazing and compelling.

Didn't know what I was getting into

I really enjoyed this book. I loved seeing Barack Obama through the eyes of his wife. There was Michelle's story which is great. When I read of her growing up and the way. she took all the things life sent her way, I was impressed. Then there was the combined story of Barack and Michelle...how she had her own life but supported Barack in his political goals.
I laughed at the story of their first days in the White House. How Barack was bragging how put together he looked and Michelle told him he got no points for that because the President has three valets. I read her take of the Sandy Hook shooting spree and relived the terrible sorrow of young lives taken way before their time.
The greatest part of the story to me was of this lady giving her very best to use her position in the sun to make life better for our children. The obesity epidemic. That is so important for all of us. I live in a depressed area and I was shocked to find that the neighborhood children didn't know that tomatoes grew on bushes. They only knew them from the store.

Never had there been as close a bonding as the one that existed between the daring and adventurous young Lord Jaxom and his extraordinary white dragon, Ruth. Pure white and incredibly agile, Ruth was a dragon of many talents, though almost everyone on Pern thought he was a runt that would never amount to anything. But Jaxom knew better.

What did you love best about The White Dragon?
The best thing about The White Dragon is Ruth, the white dragon. This book is the story of a boy and his dragon coming of age. It is a great story. I love the partnership between the two and the way they work things out together searching for what is best for both.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The White Dragon?
When Ruth and Jaxom steal back the female dragon egg to return to Benden.
What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He makes it more real. I like his voice and the voices he gives to the characters.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
You will wish you could fly a dragon and know the glory and freedom of being a dragonrider of Pern!
Any additional comments?
Anne McCaffrey makes her characters so real and knowable. Jaxom could be my brother. His struggles and triumphs are mine to share. I love this series and it is so great to be able to listen to it as well as read it. To me it is the best of fantasy. I get to journey to another world and fly with the dragonriders of Pern.
