I love time travel books, but i missed in the description that this waa sci fi. As with any sci fi story it raised more questions that were unresolved so the end fell flat.

Takes forever to get into the plot
Revisado: 03-28-25
It gets good about chapter 17. Before that a lot of writing that has little to do with the story. Without giving anything away, the reason "why" Tillie ended up where she did is barely explained.

Great continuation of thd story.
Revisado: 03-20-25
The story was engaging and moved along quickly. I had to remind myself I already knew Haymitch lived, but it was a lot of work getting him out. His story definitely explains his actions toward Katniss and Peta later on.
Narration is a pleasure to listen too, also!

I'd rather watch paint dry
Revisado: 03-19-25
Poorly written characters with sketchy description, long boring descriptions and a confusing jumble who could do what to whom and why. Narration was good for what she had to work with.
I will never understand how a book with so much "hype" can be those bad.

Narration was excellent! I had to back up several times because there are a lot of characters. Maud Baum and her family were interesting people and I hope to read the books by Matilda Gage, Maud's mother....she was a remarkable person.

Great history lesson
Revisado: 03-09-25
I loved the parts digging into history and the dual story line. It got very long winded when the characters tried to be philosophical and find deep meanings in things.

Be patient, the last 3 chapters finally make sense
Revisado: 03-05-25
The meandering style jumping between time was annoying in this one because the narration is "one-note." It was very hard to tell which female character was speaking because they were all alike. Except for Constance, who sounded like Betty Rubble from the Flintstones trying to sound like Mary Poppins. If the narration was better, the story would have held my interest.
Was very glad to get to the end, not for the little twist, but just to get through it.

Good story, but got bogged down in details
Revisado: 02-27-25
In several places I just wanted to say "just move on!" because the author seemed to be rambling while the story got lost. I had to go back several times, either because I wanted to clarify details, or my mind started to wander. For the 18th century, the characters were very 21st century I. attitude.
Without giving too much away, one character was described as castrated when it should have said "dismembered"
For a book about a midwife, those scenes lack description and were mostly glossed over. Finally, I found it more difficult to enjoy listening when it bounced 20 or 30 years back and forth. It just made it hard to enjoy.

Confusing with the time jumps and slow dialog
Revisado: 02-16-25
i wanted to love this book, I restarted it several times and had to reread several chapters to get thru the rambling. What should have been a interesting story got bogged down in clumsy dialog, random time jumps and it seemed the author just didn't know where the story was going.
