Historia
This is the book about money for people who don't even want to think about money, until the arrival of that inevitable day when we all realize we must come to terms with this thing called money. Everyone has pain and challenges, strengths, and dreams about money, and many of us mix profound shame into that relationship. In The Art of Money, Bari Tessler offers an integrative approach that creates the real possibility of "money healing", using our relationship with money as a gateway to self-awareness and a training ground for compassion, confidence, and self-worth.

wonderful!
Revisado: 12-14-22
this book is for those who can't seem to find their way with traditional ways of learning to manage finances and money. and for those that find thinking about money gives them the ick. Bari has completely taken the cringe out of my thoughts towards taking charge of my financial life, and I can't even describe this feeling of freedom that I currently feel. I'm actually excited to do this work and make these shifts in my life. the 1st chapter had me so triggered I was practically sweating but by the halfway point I was getting almost giddy. something was already changing in me and I haven't even done the homework yet. I highly recommend this book if you'd like to think about money in a positive light and possibly release the shame, blame, and ick in relation to your money-life!

Historia
Although PTSD affects seven to eight percent of people in the world, it remains a relatively taboo subject. When people do talk about it, it's usually restricted to war veterans and victims of child abuse. The truth is, PTSD can manifest in response to any kind of trauma. Recent research has shown that it is possible to recover from nightmarish experiences and live a life that feels happy and secure.

excellent content, sharp voice.
Revisado: 11-25-22
the book is excellent, and has wonderful information in it for anyone suffering from cptsd, the voice work took a lot for me to get used to though. it was sharp and staccato, and I had to get past that to absorb the information given to me but it took a little while to get into the groove. a worthy read though!

Historia
For much of the 20th and 21st centuries, women’s sexuality was an uncharted territory in science, studied far less frequently - and far less seriously - than its male counterpart. That is, until Emily Nagoski’s Come As You Are, which used groundbreaking science and research to prove that the most important factor in creating and sustaining a sex life filled with confidence and joy is not what the parts are or how they’re organized but how you feel about them.

Amazing content and life changing info!
Revisado: 07-22-22
I loved this book. this is my second book by Emily Nagoski and I love her style, her clear explanations of what she is teaching, the thorough and careful attendance to the delivery of the messages, which are inspirational, raw, and real. The huge amount of work and passion she put into this research and life's work is obvious!
The only thing I didn't like was the piano used to segue from one section to the other. In fact, I hated it. The piano was out of tune and warbley, and if it was overdubbed into the reading as opposed to just between sections, it took all my attention away from what she was saying, garbled her words, and I would either have to rewind and listen again, and possibly then again if it was really bad, or I'd just let it keep going to leave that music behind and miss the message. If it was in tune, that would have been a game changer, but the dissonance in the lower notes grated at me so badly I even found myself saying "ugh" out loud as it came up.
Emily, I love your voice, your delivery, and all of the feeling that you have to back up your own words was truly magical. But the out of tune piano is not helpful and tuned me out of chunks of your books - both of them. please either tune your piano or leave it out completely for the next one.

Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Untuck this recording quality
- De Martin J. Fogarty en 07-25-18
Narration was DIY but content was excellent!
Revisado: 02-16-22
The author narrated herself, and she knew what, and how, she wanted to say and sound. However, the room she narrated in was loud and you could hear background noise from her neighborhood that actually startled me from time to time, especially listening on ear buds. It sounded like someone was behind me a few times and I jumped out of my skin. That said, her writing is excellent and the science is wonderful!!!! A great read if you're mindful that the recording quality isn't professional.

Historia
Pia Mellody creates a framework for identifying codependent thinking, emotions and behaviour and provides an effective approach to recovery. Mellody sets forth five primary adult symptoms of this crippling condition, then traces their origin to emotional, spiritual, intellectual, physical and sexual abuses that occur in childhood. Central to Mellody's approach is the concept that the codependent adult's injured inner child needs healing.

Love the book, extremely dislike the type of readers voice chosen.
- De Molly Hamilton en 12-01-20
Wonderful content. Terrible narration.
Revisado: 01-26-22
I read in some other reviews about how others were confused and unhappy with the choice in narrator, plus his delivery and voice. I completely agree. This book was written by a woman and is read using her voice, but having it read by a man was weird. But the real problem was that his delivery was aggressive and jarring. The content contains sensitive and sometimes traumatizing information and a gentle delivery would have soothed the senses, but instead the sharpness in his words buzzed in my ears and made it worse. He sounded aggressive and accusing. Not what you need when talking about potentially triggering information. The only thing that helped was the warnings mentioned in previous reviews that if you can stand him, the book itself was great, and they were right so I pushed on.
The book content itself is excellent. The author is thorough and thoughtful. She delivers excellence and wonderfully educates about this topic, including an optimistic view on recovery that leaves the listener with hope. The only problem was the narrator and if you can get past him and forgive his delivery, you can benefit greatly from this book. Thank you, Pia!
