Historia
Overthinking isn't a personality trait. It's the sneakiest form of fear. It steals time, creativity, and goals. It's the most expensive, least productive thing companies invest in without even knowing it. And it's an epidemic. When New York Times best-selling author Jon Acuff changed his life by transforming his overthinking, he wondered if other people might benefit from what he discovered. He commissioned a research study to ask 10,000 people if they struggle with overthinking too, and 99.5 percent said, "Yes!"

I didn’t want it to be over!
Revisado: 08-11-24
I almost got sucked into overthinking writing this review…. But that just felt disrespectful to Jon! I did take a break after I wrote the title and shared the book with three or four people, but back to it! I LOVE, I mean LOVE learning and laughing, and this book accomplishes both. (Side note: I was going to say “accomplished” but that felt too final, and I clearly stated in the title of this review, I didn’t want it to be over. However, that is one of the coolest aspects of a book! Jon didn’t just make a speech somewhere that will only benefit the people who attended and only for as long as they can remember specific phrases, concepts or jokes, he wrote a book… now, we read it over and over, any part or in its entirety! Better yet, he recorded this audiobook and we can listen to it whenever we want to!)
Jon has such an approachable way of combining science, relatable humor (I laughed to the point of tears streaming down my face several times) and actionable strategies to improve our lives, and have FUN along the way! This is what life is about! While this is the approach I take with nutrition and wellness as a teacher, coach and community leader), I was allowing overthinking to get the best of me. I was creating an ocean of ideas and letting myself get stuck in “I don’t have enough time to do this right/well”… paralysis by analysis. I ended last night and started this morning with my new anthem and I already made progress… I wrote this review instead of just thought about what I could write. I am going to listen to the book again, LIVE IT and continue to share it! WE CAN DO THIS! Jon, you’ve made a meaningful contribution to my quality of life, which will compound over time. Thank you. Please continue to record podcast episodes and write books. You have many gifts to share with the world. 🤗

Historia
Born out of personal experience with ADHD, the author tells how you can learn some logical techniques to break free of constantly being late and unprepared. She knows how it feels to live the reactive life, shuffling kids, constantly missing deadlines, and being overly stressed out as a mom, wife, and friend. One day in February of 2020, she put her foot down, declaring, "I will fix this!" And along came the CALM method. This audiobook can help tamp down that last-minute living, so you and (everyone around you) will benefit and create more space for daily success.

I am soooo excited that The CALM METHOD is now available on Audible and was recorded by the author, Ryan Lanier! As I listened, I found myself nodding, smiling, laughing and talking to her! How did Ryan know what I was thinking?! She makes it SIMPLE and ACTIONABLE to ditch the chaos and show up as our best selves to get things done, all while staying sane. I look forward to listening to it on a regular basis to center me and keep me CALM when life isn’t!

I didn’t want it to end!!!
Revisado: 11-15-21
I love this book soooooo much that I didn’t want it to end. The only thought that made the “We hope you enjoyed this audiobook” message bearable, was knowing that it was in my library and that I could listen again! I immediately went back to the beginning and I am already a few chapters in, and loving every word, hearing nuggets that resonate even deeper this time.
Susie self narrating the book is such a TREAT!!! I love the short chapter format, the engaging stories, practical strategies and positive energy. I have recommended this book to sooooo many people already and know that it will be part of a short list of my very favorite books of all time, as the wisdom Susie shares is evergreen. I know that each time I listen, I will find new opportunities to live what I learn. I am so thankful that Susie chose to share her gifts with the world in this way!

Don’t want it to end! Bought 3 printed copies!!
Revisado: 06-20-20
Easily one of the best books that I have read! (This shouldn’t be taken lightly, as I read a lot!) So many wonderful ideas, quotes and actionable steps all in one place! I am not even done listening to the audiobook (for the first time, as this clearly a book that I will intentionally come back to again and again), but I just bought 3 print copies to ensure I have one at home, one at work (college) and one to gift/loan! Now, I am trying to figure out how to make it required reading in my nutrition courses!

Easily one of the best books that I have come across for parents! It is a fabulous mixture of research based practical strategies and real life examples! I just finished and can’t wait to listen again! I have already sent a screen shot of the book to my closest friends with the message... get this book ASAP! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, Julie! Now, it is time to implement! Thinking about setting up a book club-ish group, since I feel compelled to ACT! A more peaceful mind and home is on the other side... Don’t hesitate for a second about getting this book!
