Historia
As Indigenous scientist and author of Braiding Sweetgrass Robin Wall Kimmerer harvests serviceberries alongside the birds, she considers the ethic of reciprocity that lies at the heart of the gift economy. How, she asks, can we learn from Indigenous wisdom and the plant world to reimagine what we value most? Our economy is rooted in scarcity, competition, and the hoarding of resources, and we have surrendered our values to a system that actively harms what we love. Meanwhile, the serviceberry’s relationship with the natural world is an embodiment of reciprocity.

Delightful book - back to nature and essence of life
Revisado: 01-13-25
This book offers a delicate link between the the modern and thoughtless abuse of nature, and the indigenous respectful view on the natural world - the way we ALL should treat it, for it is our survival on this planet that is at stake if we keep disregarding nature.
Delightfully spoken from the heart, full of vibrant emotion, letting me FEEL I am there with the birds and the trees and LIFE. It pulled me right back to my Sundance visit in Canada with the Cree people who tought me so incredibly much. Thank you Robin for this beautiful book and valuable insights. Yvonne

Historia
More than half a century ago, the naturalist Farley Mowat accepted an assignment to investigate why wolves were killing Arctic caribou. Mowat’s account of the summer he lived in the frozen tundra alone – studying the wolf population and developing a deep affection for these wild creatures (who were no threat to caribou or man) – is today celebrated as a classic of nature writing, at once a tale of remarkable adventure and an indelible record of the myths and magic of wolves.

What the WOLF really is. Told with heart and humour.
Revisado: 09-13-24
I have read so many scientific wolf books as wolves fill my life. This book differs from all in that it is the humorously written story of a novice and very naive naturalist let loose in the incredible wilderness, surviving against all odds in the freezing north, sent out to gain early insight on this elusive species in the 1940ties. Not many would have survived, and even less would have managed to gain such intimate knowledge of the wolf and the natural world as Farley Mowat.

Historia
Carter Niemeyer has followed wolves - and captured many - since he helped reintroduce them in the Northern Rockies in the mid-1990s. In his second memoir, Wolf Land, he takes us across the rugged West as he tracks wolves, shares in their lives, and seeks middle ground for these iconic animals, both on the land and in our hearts.

Bringing the wolves alive
Revisado: 08-30-24
The wolf introduction story in Yellowstone is living proof that we humans CAN change and make up for ridiculous decisions that we made in the past (extermination). Wolves in Yellowstone are ambassadors for biodiversity,
The present story is testimony to this fact and I salute all those who have been active in the reintroduction of the wolves in the US and in the endeavour to righten past wrongs.I wish that our Swiss politicians would take Yellowstone as living proof that wolves, lynx, vulchars, and even the beavers are necessary predators to keep the natural balance instead of relaunching the present culling of the wolves in Switzerland. Historia
When Rick Lamplugh reports for work at the historic Lamar Buffalo Ranch on New Year's Eve, he has one goal: to learn as much as possible about the ecology of the Lamar Valley and how wolves fit in. He has three frigid months to explore on skis and snowshoes, to observe with all his senses, and to listen to and talk with experts. Lamplugh's story takes you with him as he watches winter-hungry elk and bison migrate to the Lamar Valley to graze. Wolves, coyotes, and mountain lions stalk the grazers while eagles, ravens, and magpies wait to scavenge.

For the love of the wolf
Revisado: 02-19-24
The reverence and love for this species is palpable. And the success of the reintroduction of the wolf in Yellowstone is what the Swiss Government should be understanding, instead of culling our wolves. Over 50 wolves have been culled here in Switzerland since the new culling decision in December 2023.

Stunning story and fantastic narrator
Revisado: 09-15-23
I couldnt put the Story down. And that says a lot because I usually listen to courses and scientific work. it is actually the first time that I listen to a novel, something of this kind. The way it is written is touching, somehow straight out of life, even though it is fantasy. And the narrator has an amazing gift in carrying the various characters through with their voice - I was never confused on who was talking. Each character was easily recognisable by their voice, and additionally mentioned in a clear way by name, so there was never a confusion of who is saying what. Big achievement, especially in an audiobook, because this confusion often happens even in written books. Thanks for great entertainment. But also, thanks for conveying some wolf pack dynamics. Incidentlly, I am part of the steering committee of a big wolf sanctuary.
