A very nice adaptation of the old fairy tale. I did note that Tristan Morris gave a duplicate or slightly different reading of the same line. I’m just appreciative of Ms Posten doing such a bang up job of recreating The Little Cinder Girl.

No. No. Just no. Predictable and fun and then finally just no. It was okay but about two hours from the end I just gave up. Good narrator. Pretty standard story but nothing popped. No fizz. I guess my standards are too high. The book turned into Barry. The boring fiancé.

Regrettably I cannot recommend this. The sex scenes are plentiful past the point of surfeit yet they always seem to take place semi-publicly and are frequently interrupted. Unnecessarily. There’s a story. It’s streeeeeeettttcccchhhed way out by alpha male woman handling, tiresome self reflection, tediously teetering plot points and of course, THE BIG SECRET!

Three sisters, two with unresolved stories so we know where that’s heading, SEQUELS! SERIES! It could have easily been compressed into one book because Jill is actually not a bad writer and really pulls off some good dialogue. But I’m politely easing her out of my library.

Oh yeah. She attributes some of my favorite quotes to the deceased mom. Lazy and unfair to the clever people who originally uttered them.

Now I feel bad. Because I liked Chloe, Mattie and Tara and felt like Jill and I could have been friends.

LOVE Penny Reid. Loved the Knitting series. Loved ‘Beauty and the Moustache’ Love the female narrator. Couldn’t take the preoccupation with sex unrequited. Plot lines driven by decisions not to tell others what they needed to know. And I guess I’m just not man enough to handle it when we cross from sexy to raunchy. Gave up six hours from the end. And I think I’ll forgo the remainder of the Winston bros.

Umm, maybe just forgetful.

No spoiler but I forgot my lunchbox this morning. Ms. Carr, ineffably delightful and efficient with a story, changed a Trans Am morning in one chapter to a GTO in the next. Also someone had a fiancée in one book but had never been engaged in the the next. So maybe the theme, which I’m not telling you, is a good one.

She, The author, has a sneaky way of getting me to think about really important stuff without bashing me with the sadness stick. And. I’m all in. And. Volunteering to proofrwad if nessecary.

I only made it through 3 or 4 chapters. A guy who apparently cannot hear the word “no”. The reader seemed to have trouble pronouncing Nantahala. A key word.

Ignore the bad reviews. Cool Spoonerism somewhere near 5:33:36. Absolutely detested the entire story for about four hours. Then whoosh! Definitely worth the pain though I seldom admit to enjoying being subjected to psychological manipulation.

The best moments in life are the final moments of a book with a happy ending. I find that they are marred or even spoiled by an advertisement for another book. I absolutely detest that.

Therese Plummer is an excellent narrator and should get five stars. There were three mispronounced words. This would be the director’s fault? Editor?

I dread the day I have to leave Virgin River.
