Historia
Dee and Jeff soon realize there couldn't be two people more unprepared for the hospitality business. There's also the panic-inducing reality of prowling bears and a general store as the only shopping spot for miles. Living and working in the middle of nowhere takes some getting used to—especially when a disrespectful guest ends up murdered! Now, with the motel duo topping the suspect list, Dee must steer clear of a meddling park ranger, face her past in show biz, and determine if the killer is a local or tourist.

Enjoyable story. Narration felt a bit labored.
Revisado: 09-18-24
Overall, the storyline was a fun one. I enjoyed talking through some points with my 21-YO daughter who still lives in the SoCal area. The dialogue was a bit corny at times, but nothing out of the norm for the genre. The author did give herself away as a native New Yorker by mentioning “cold cuts” (which I got a good chuckle out of—it’s one of my “tells” too). Overall, I found it to be an enjoyable read, but struggled a bit with the narration. It felt a little too slow and labored.

Solid story that is deeply thought provoking
Revisado: 09-11-24
I almost stopped listening after the first couple of minutes because I thought it would be too Sci-fi for me (that’s not a genre that tends to interest me). I’m so glad I didn’t quit! This story touched on so many important topics (the impact of Alzheimer’s on families, the impact of homophobia and conspiracy theories…) It was a truly powerful story and the narration was wonderful.

Historia
The way Jazz Ramsey figures it, life is pretty good. She is 35 years old and owns her own home in one of Cleveland's most diverse, artsy, and interesting neighborhoods. She has a job she likes as an administrative assistant at an all-girls school and a volunteer interest that she's passionate about - Jazz is a cadaver dog handler. Jazz is working with Luther, a cadaver dog in training. Luther is still learning cadaver work, so Jazz is putting him through his paces at an abandoned building. When Luther signals a find, Jazz is stunned to see the body of a young woman.

Great story and narration
Revisado: 08-21-24
I’ve seen some frustrated complaints that a cover with a dog on the front signals that the dog will more front and center in the story. I find that many cozies with pets written into the storyline feel forced. The “amount” of dog presence in the story felt natural and fitting. And overall, I felt the story was very well written. I wasn’t thrilled with the love interest (he seemed a bit too condescending), but overall, character development and setting were solid. The plot was well supported and engaging. Well done. Narration was also a pleasure to listen to.

Historia
From the day she is born, Prudence Spellmeyer’s world is guided by her charismatic, 1980’s-band-obsessed older brother. But when Davis passes away before Pru’s senior year of high school, everything changes. Lost in grief, she formulates a plan: graduate, move to the city, and leave behind her dinky Podunk town full of painful memories. Pru’s only solace comes through drawing pictures of Davis in her art journal, and hiding out in the back seat of the Gherkin, her brother’s 1971 pickle-green Monte Carlo. Wrapped in the letterman’s jacket that still smells just like him, Pru tumbles into dreams of Davis.

One of the most powerful stories I’ve experience in a long time!

I will be writing a review for the Kindle edition as well, since I toggled, but wanted to make sure to also share accolades for the narration of this book. The fact that it doesn’t already have thousands of 5 star reviews is beyond me. As both a parent and educator, I hope for nothing more than to see this book get the attention it deserves!
