Life as Samuel's wife is nothing like Rose hoped, and even the townspeople, who loved his first wife, make Rose feel like an outsider. The work of the farm draws the two of them closer, giving hope that they might one day become a happy family. Until the dream shatters, and the life Rose craves tumbles down around them. Only God can put these pieces back together, but the outcome may not look anything like she planned.

Narration

The computer narration was sometimes difficult as the intonation of voices was absent and some sentences seemed to run together.

Keep me mad

I like this book. Some of the time, I was so upset with male character and wish that the female character will run away and see how his life would be without her. Shed a few tears. Yelled at the book a few times, as well as couldn’t understand some of the things that happened but in the end I was happy. Still can’t get used to the virtual voice but on this one, I slowed it down because sometimes I will get confused on who was speaking.

Horrible virtual voice. I’d give a minus if I could. It ruined the flow, even knowing who was talking , no shift in character voices etc. the story itself was diminished by narration but I did appreciate some things I waded through as in the commitment to God’s path as well as showing weaknesses in various characters.

Misleading genre classification as well as doormat Female Lead

So I don't have a problem with a Christian historical romance if it is properly titled. But the actual romance was nonexistent with the story dragging on for hours and hours. Even in a marriage of convenience, I believe it needs to actually be consummated for legality reasons...otherwise you are literally just an unpaid housekeeper. I didn't understand why it took her so many months to understand what was truly going on in her "marriage". And I didn't understand why this pastor's wife encouraged marriage after so little time. As someone who is about 6 months out from a divorce I can tell you, grief takes as long as it takes...dragging another party into it is a mistake. I don't understand what he was even offering her in this supposed marital arrangement. no love, no hot sex, just raising someone else's kids and housework...pass

Just okay

Cute story if you have nothing better to listen to.

The AI was not that great. There is no voice change or inflation to show character change.

Gets very Godly towards the end. "We must pray on this." "Leave it in God's hands." and so on.

Story was good

The story was very good and super sweet, but it was really hard to listen to because of the virtual voice.

Kids steal the story

The four kids are the highlights in the story. I’ve heard enough Virtual Voice narrations that I’m used to it. It’s fine other than occasional odd inflections and mispronounced words.

I cried

Honestly, I believe this book taught me that we may have plans for ourselves, but once we listen to God, things tend to fall into place great storyline

AI inflection sounds like children’s literature

Nice lightweight, heartfelt story that was read like a The Bobbsey Twins selection. The story wallowed and mired frequently in low self esteem the was too gratuitous .

Virtual voice

The virtual voice doesn’t have the tone and inflection and emotion of a real human reader. The story would’ve been much better with a real human reader.
