"The perfect dream-come-true-fairytale!"—Jason June, New York Times bestselling author of Jay's Gay Agenda and Out of the Blue

“Effortlessly charming, funny, swoon-worthy, and sincerely moving.”—Julian Winters, award-winning author of Running With Lions

#1 New York Times bestselling author Eric Geron delivers whirlwind wish-fulfillment in this story of a closeted crown prince and an out-and-proud cowboy who discover they were separated at birth.

Edward Dinnissen leads a charmed life. He’s the Crown Prince of Canada, gets the royal treatment at his exclusive private school, and resides in a ritzy mansion. He thrives off being the perfect prince as he prepares for the Investiture Ceremony on his eighteenth birthday, the final step in his role as heir—and Canada’s future king. But this closeted Crown Prince has just one tiny problem: he’s unsure how to tell his parents, his beloved country, and his adoring fans that he’s gay.

Billy Boone should be happy with the simple life. His family’s ranch is his favorite place in the world, he loves his small town, and his boyfriend is the cutest guy at Little Timber High. So why does it feel like something’s still missing? Maybe it has to do with the fact that this out-and-proud cowboy feels destined for something more . . .

When Edward and Billy meet by chance in New York City, they discover that they are long-lost twins, and their lives are forever changed. Together, will these twin princes—“twinces”—be able to take on high school, coming out, and coronations? Or will this royal reunion quickly become a royal train wreck?

“The enchanting cast of characters hooks you into a regal setting full of drama, romance, and intrigue, with relatable underlying journeys of self-love and struggle.”—Brian Zepka, author of The Temperature of Me and You

fun!

enjoyed the story quite a lot. it’s a longer listen given how short a timeline the story takes place over, but it finds its pacing pretty early which works well

the twins are great characters and I like the little references to their similarities and differences (nature/nurture) plus their character growth throughout

It was nice to see Pax and Edward’s relationship start. It’s a cute match and I liked how it was not overly weighty but had enough detail and a bit of an arc in its own way

I was disappointed that Billy’s and Neil’s (spelling?) relationship, while although hinted at, never got a start or to be explored at all. Obv if there were a sequel, that’s something we’d see, but this doesn’t come across as the kind of story to have a sequel. Also would have liked to see Neil’s character get a bit more focus. While he isn’t a flat character per se, he doesn’t really have much emotional growth or opportunity to contribute to the tone/arc of the story except as a narrative actor

Some of the narrative tense points did teeter a bit too much on the cringy side of things, and J had to take breaks at times. Especially during the investiture ceremony.

The follies that we’re reported online about Billy and the public’s response seemed way overexaggerated, but then again, it’s fiction. And it doesn’t really hurt the story.

I’m glad that Fiona didn’t stay a villain. Not that she needed a redemption arc, but it was getting to the point of being annoying, especially when she wouldn’t back off after Edward told her no repeatedly that he was not remotely wanting an actual relationship with her. Someone as smart of her should have backed off as that’s friend losing territory. And for someone who later in the story says that everyone she’s ever cared about already left her, you’d think she’d be motivated to keep Edward around. Yes she does come around later but it felt that it was later in the story than it needed to be. Another example of a bit too cringy.

But overall it’s a fun story, and I’m glad I took the time to listen to it. Definitely recommend.

Truly Delightful!

A delightful tale of royal mischief, renewed kinship, and dessert inspiration.
I’m glad to have had a lovely mix of queer characters to the mix in A Tale of Two Princes. All the characters are lovable. But Pax is, by far, a truly inspired and needed character for representation. I’m happy to have had the author do them Justice above anything else in the book. I could have lived without the happily ever after so long as our sweet as a sticky bun, Pax, got the story they deserved.
The performances were good and complimented the story well. It seems like it would be hard to coordinate two performers. I was glad the story had a minimum amount of characters for both narrators to perform.
Bravo!
I raise my saved vanilla cake as a toast to an encore to this book!

I do NOT alike Billy

Accept for Billy I did care about this story. As soon as he left Montana he shoved Dustin and Montana to the back of his mind. Dustin did not deserve that. I almost hated Billy for most of the story. The ending is the only thing that nearly made up for it.

Skip it

If I have to hear "Maple Crown Rule number..." one more time...

The premise is good, the delivery is not. Stereotypes and tropes galore, one cliché after another, and more cringe-worthy awfulness than you can imagine. If chatGPT were to write a LGBT rom/com, this is what would pop out.

Sounded fun, but fell flat.

Every cliché imaginable sums it up pretty well. One dimensional characters, predictable plot lines, pandering to certain idealogues. The writer or editor one, didn't miss an opportunity to pander to everyone in the LGBTQ community, which made for a story that asks too much from the reader. Was looking forward to this since I'm a twin and gay, but pretty disappointed.
