Technical book.

This is a decent book if you want a quick and technical overview, but technicality is not my field to follow so I post it four stars.

Malinformed, mispronounced and sophomoric

This could be a nice 8th-grade round-up of ancient Levant geopolitics and societies, but the readers made listening painful and the authors should be encouraged to cite sources, especially when mischaracterizing scripture. Readers stalling at page breaks and commas, misusing travesty in place of tragedy, and the readers and authors generally not studying history before trying to write and read it are just some issues with this text. The authors go far out of their way to explain they are not using religious books as reference material, and then opine for pages on sick and perverse imaginations as to what scripture says, between the lines. Poor form. Poor, hack-ridden form. You all really need editors who don’t like you so much as it appears that your moms provided critical feedback for you. Humanists will particularly enjoy this “history” book.

I love civilizations, my digital library is full.

This book is very technical, but somewhat informative if you have enough prior study of the historical context. Seems like a repurposed academic paper. Still this audible deserves the five stars because of its length.

A Very Interesting Read for history lovers.

The Bible tells the story of Israel's conquest of the land of Canaan, but what do you know about the Canaanites? The Bible
is only one source among many used to discover who these people were. This book reveals many things about them I did
not realize. Egypt was more involved with them than I realized. The Canaanites were a relatively disorganized bunch who
fought among themselves as much as they did others.

This book reveals many things.

The author knew his subject and presented it in a logical manner which was easy to follow. He presented the facts without a flowery dissertation. A good, easy read.

Precision of language is an issue. i.e. "Bastions"

It is a nice introduction, but it could use refinement. The language when describing specific points is too vague for a true understanding of the subject.
But, overall very, very interesting. It provides a good elementary introduction to what is a fascinating epoch of human history.
The History of the Hittites needs a lot of work. The authors and editors need to do more research and not rely so heavily on Egyptian records which we know to be greatly exaggerated for propaganda purposes.

horrible audio recording and editing

dude doesn't understand how to pronounce basic words. audio has many long awkward pauses and at least once a blatant gaff is left in, and then he proceeds to redo it and continue

very cool history lesson. many thing i didn't know and I'm very happy they focused on the archaeological point of view rather than any religious dreams that cannot be authenticated

It is so shameful that the author has no regard for truth

What a shame! This author is engaged in altering truth. What a shame. And excavation of relevance proves this author not worthy of consideration. I wonder if the author is driven by ego or a substantial monetary funding.

Not Worthwhile

This title is a compilation of three of Captivating History's titles. I thought I'd try this compilation out to broaden my knowledge of these ancient civilizations. Unfortunately, I feel like I've been listening to someone's poorly-written high school term paper. I never felt like the author's had any grasp of the subject matter, let alone were presenting it in a "captivating" way. You could learn more in less time from each civilization's Wikipedia page. The narration is reasonably enthusiastic and engaging, but is riddled with horrible mispronunciations (e.g. Cilician pronounced as to sound like "silicon".)
