The narrator

Despite the fact that It has more battle scenes than I usually, like Anvil shed some light on a lesser known period of history. The narrator, however, mispronounced so many words I won’t read the second book.

Compelling story despite the narration

The narrator was flat and seemed to struggle with the performance but the story was interesting enough to keep me listening. I intend to continue the series. I wish that the characters could have been brought to life because they were well written and the plot was fascinating.

Great Story! So so Narrator!

I was totally captivated by the story told in Anvil of God. J. Boyce Gleason has a winner on his hands. I can't wait to read his next installment in the Carolingian Chronicles. I found the story and character development to be fabulous. I am a history buff, and you can really see how much research Gleason has put into his settings, character plots and developments. The only fault I found in the audio recording is the narrator, but that is my opinion. Keep up the good work, J. Boyce Gleason, your storytelling is wonderful.

Can’t finish

Even though I’m interested in this story, I can’t finish due to the lacklustre narration. I have listened to so many stellar readings of books, this is just too boring for me. Sorry. I may get back to it later.

Too graphic

This book was too graphic, sexually and with violence. Would not recommend this novel to friends or family.

Not Ken Follett

My wife and I have listened to several books while traveling in our motor home. Ken Follett as great. Reviews of this title suggested this as similarity good, not so! The reader is hard to listen to. We have listened to 34% and have stopped. Had we tried this on the road, road noise would have made this impossible. I am not sure how to return an Audible book, as I never have, I am though going to find out. The story may be ok to read , but the Audible version is a mistake.

The performance was so terrible I couldn't even finish the first chapter

Poor performance

Story line difficult to follow because audio performance is poor. There are many characters but the readers voice inflections never change for each character. A disappointment from what was advertised
