Wonderful walk down nostalgia lane.

I read this book when I was a teenager and it was my absolute favorite historical romance novel. When I saw it was available on audible, I couldn’t wait to revisit some old friends. I was not disappointed- the narration was spot on. The story as fun, romantic, and suspenseful as when it was first released in print.

I have read this book many many times over the years. It is a favorite for sure and this audio version was wonderful .

The accents were great although I wish Cole had had more animation in the time of his voice, it was the one character that always seemed a bit flat .

Best Characters Ever!!

Her writing is so thoughtful and she is a wonderful storyteller. The characters she creates are deep, intelligent and oh so human. It’s like you know them, they are people you recognize. Amazing..

Read this book at 16 years old.45 years later and still a great book. Awesome job on the narrator. this was my first novel I ever read. this story took me to another time and place. I love books.

I bought this book when first published hardback. Replaced hard copy, digital purchase, and now audio. Narration did not disappoint. Still a beloved favorite.

LOVE IT!!

I have read several of this authors books, but never this one- and I absolutely adored it! This story brings out a wide range of emotions throughout the adventure (and it certainly is an adventure) but overall ends with a HEA! I loved this couple and all the things they went through, so many characters with twists and turns, it drew me in and kept me entertained the entire time. Will definitely be listening to this again in the near future!!!

The hatred and the struggles of good people.

I loved this story. The loss of loved ones, traditions, culture, wealth and homes. Differences between people should not keep them apart. Relationships can grow and life and love be shared. Happiness can be found!!

Such great voices for all the southern characters but then she has a British accent. :-/
I can read next time you need 100% authentic southern.

The forward is unnecessarily condescending…

But the stories remain the same.

I first read these books at far too young a age, but they have ruined me for almost all other romances. I want the long form, sweeping, slow burn romance that these give you. While I understand the books are a “product of their time”, the condescension in the editors forward could definitely be left off. It honest to goodness feels like they absolutely do not want anyone reading these books. After over a year of waiting for the pushed back audiobooks, I’m so glad they’re here!
