How can this be? There are as many reasons as there are victims. This book can only be a small sample of this most tragic human experience. If we cannot solve the enigma, perhaps we can get a small glance into it. That is one reason we undertook to compile these more than 150 case histories into this volume.
Another: Suicide prevention. This book by its very nature is an advocacy for suicide prevention. Suicide is never the right course.
When you read these stories, you will know it’s never the right course of action. You will see another way, that unfortunately, the victim, beset by overwhelming pain, was not able to apprehend.
Here’s a thought: what if one life could be saved by reading this book?
