One could scarcely find a Christian today who has never heard of the name D.L. Moody. The passion of this eminent 19th-century American evangelist was to preach the gospel with humility, simplicity, and power to a lost and dying world—leading sinners to the Savior and equipping them as His disciples.
Moody penned one of his finest works, The Overcoming Life, in 1896 to encourage believers in the daily struggle of Christian warfare. Moody's simple, practical, and anecdotal style is engaging and easily understood by all readers. "The world, the flesh, and the devil are too much for any man," Moody writes. "But if we are linked to Christ by faith, and He has formed in us the hope of glory, then we shall get the victory over every enemy... Through Christ we shall be more than conquerors."
This Pure Gold Classic includes The Way to God, a short book Moody wrote in 1884. In this companion work, he lovingly instructs Christians on how to draw nearer to God, through the love of Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit. He also gives some warnings against backsliding.
