Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu (1814-1873) was an Irish author of short stories and novels. He was one of the most important writers of Gothic, mystery and horror stories of the Victorian era. His most important works are "Uncle Silas", "The House by the Churchyard", and his short story collection "In a Glass Darkly".
