This Basic Sinhala Course offers an introduction to the Sinhala language for complete beginners. This course targets the A1 level on the CEFR scale (basic communication for beginners), making it perfect for beginners who want to dive into the Sinhala language. Whether you’re planning a trip to Sri Lanka or have Sri Lankan friends and relatives, this course will equip you with the foundational skills you need to speak and understand the language at a simple level.
In this course, you will focus on speaking and understanding commonly used vocabulary. From the first session of the course, you will find yourself actively engaging in practical greetings that are essential for everyday communication. We believe that language learning should be immersive and interactive, so you will be encouraged to speak and listen in Sinhala throughout the course. This approach helps you build confidence and proficiency quickly. The course teaches common phrases, helping you put what you learn to use.
You will learn how to introduce yourself, ask for directions, order food, and carry out basic conversations with native speakers. Our carefully structured lessons help you learn the fundamental sounds, words, and phrases of Sinhala. We emphasize real-life scenarios making it easy to apply what you learn.
You will learn how to converse with locals during your visit to Colombo or understanding the cultural significance of words used in traditional Sri Lankan ceremonies. With this introductory course, these experiences become accessible to you.
