The Brewers woke up their offense just in time to break out of a season-worst slump and beat the Marlins 6-2 in their series finale in Milwaukee.

The National League Central leading Brewers (60-45) scored four runs on seven hits in four innings off Miami Starter KyleTyler. (0-2) Tyler struck out five.

New Miami leadoff man Xavier Edwards went 4-4, beating out an infield single with two outs in the ninth inning to hit for the cycle- including his 1st MLB home run. Edwards reached base all five times and scored both Marlins runs. Bryan De La Cruz added two hits and an RBI for Miami, 39-67.

Second Baseman Brice Turang robbed Jesus Sanchez and Otto Lopez on back-to-back diving plays with the bases loaded, saving at least a couple runs in the second inning. At the plate, Turang added two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Jake Bauers added three hits- including a two-run home run and a triple- two runs scored and two RBI's for the Brew Crew. Twenty year-old rookie sensation Jackson Chourio hit his 11th homer, and Garrett Mitchell added two hits and a run scored.

Brewers Closer Devin Williams (8-3, 1.53, 36 saves in 2023) made his season debut, getting Josh Bell to ground out with two on and two out to close out the win. The two-time Hoffman Award winner was out with a back injury.

The game came on a day when the Brewers inducted all-time great star Ryan Braun (2007-20) into their walk of fame. Braun was drafted to Milwaukee out of the University of Miami, (FL) where he was inducted into the sports hall of fame in 2017.

The Marlins leave Milwaukee tonight with a 4-2 record on the season against the first-place Brewers, having taken the first two games of this series as well as two out of three at home back in May.

The Fish have tomorrow night off before a quick two-game series in Tampa Bay on Tuesday and Wednesday. Edward Cabrera (1-3, 7.24 ERA) will open up in Tampa against Jeffrey Springs, (2-0, 0.56 in 2023) making his season-debut for Tampa Bay. Cabrera has looked very good his last two starts for the Marlins.

The Rays are 23-3 vs the Marlins since 2019. First pitch is at 6:50pm ET.
