Praising results, but not only

  • Resumen

  • In this episode, we dive into the world of teaching and learning through the eyes of my four-year-old daughter, Sophie, who loves chess. With a chessboard always present in our home, Sophie’s interest in the game started early, and by age two, she was already intrigued by the pieces and their movements.

Six months ago, Sophie began learning the rules, and now she’s ready to delve into theory and practice. Her goal? To defeat Magnus Carlsen. Along the way, she will play and lose many games, solving chess puzzles to sharpen her tactics.

As a parent, it’s tempting to praise her achievements, but balanced praise and rewarding effort are crucial. Success isn’t guaranteed, and failure is part of the journey. Whether learning a new skill, playing sports, or taking on new challenges, these experiences help us grow.

In this episode, we explore how focusing on effort over outcomes can foster happiness and resilience in our children.
