Vietnam, 1966. A US Airborne platoon is pinned down in Phuc Tuy Province. A deadly ambush leaves multiple casualties, forcing a desperate withdrawal. With bullets slamming into the Hueys, one is forced down only for the soldiers salvation to be a convoy of Australian APCs.
As the dust clears from the battlefield, the ruthless Viet Cong local officer, Lieutenant Vu Van Thinh hunts for intelligence on his enemies. Amidst the debris of war is one man, a mortally wounded soldier desperate for help. Lieutenant Vu wastes little time in interrogating him before gunning him down in cold blood. The Viet Cong claim first blood, and now they know a fight is coming their way.
Keen to prove their worth, the men of the Royal Australian Regiment prepare to move into Phuc Tuy, supported by the elite forces of the US 173rd Airborne Brigade. And this time they have no intention of leaving. Their objective is simple - Search and destroy every Viet Cong position in Phuc Tuy and then establish their own fortress in the Viet Cong heartland. Little do they know that Lieutenant Vu Van Thinh is not alone, and that an entire Viet Cong Battalion is moving into the area, and each of them is battle hardened and ready to sacrifice themselves in the name of their cause.
