There are over fifty million caregivers in the United States, as of 2020. That's one in five people providing UNPAID care to family, friends and loved ones. There is no discrimination in this statistic, it covers all races, creeds, backgrounds, religions, sexual orientations, social classes, rich, poor and on and on.
Only recently has it come to light that the stress and mental wear-and-tear on caregivers is not much different than the patients for whom they care.
Based on personal experience of an unplanned caregiving journey, Jim Cooper shares his experiences, discoveries, joys, frustrations and techniques that helped him maintain his sanity, set against the backdrop of his wife's journey through brain cancer treatment.
