Resumen del Editor

For seasons, I have waited for her - my perfect mate.

In a tribe full of happy couples, I am alone. But I am not content to remain this way. There are no eligible unmated females left, so I will do whatever it takes to bring females back to our tribe, even if it means doing something wrong. Even if it means I must purchase my mate on the intergalactic black market. I will do anything to possess her, to claim her as my own.

But will my ruthless move turn my female against me before we ever meet? Can she ever forgive a male that bought her freedom?

Contains mature themes.

Bek got his happy

I love a story about the grumpy guy. I’ve been hoping for Bek’s story and this didn’t disappoint. I loved how he spent so much time making gifts for Claire. He was grumpy but he had a big heart.

One thing I didn’t understand was why everyone was so upset with him for telling the guys to buy humans and bring them to him. Everyone was so mad he would buy humans, but any humans that were for sale were already stolen from their home and living life as a slave. So buying them and bringing them to his world was better than leaving them in the life they were in at the moment. So why weren’t they thankful to him? Why were they all butt hurt that he bought them. First of all, his intentions were innocent, and he gave them a better life with his actions. Everyone getting mad at him ticked me off.

I love a story about a mute girl and Ellie was abused and mute. She blossomed under Bek’s attentions and I love stories like that.

One of my favorites

in the series. The immense character development on Bek’s part is amazing. It would have been very easy fir the author to justify his actions because Bek “saved” the women from slavery, but that didn’t fully encompass the situation because he still did not give them agency over their own lives. It would have been one thing if he freed the women from slavery, then offered them choices and to take them wherever they wanted to go, but instead he trapped them into a very specific lifestyle without giving them a say. I loved this story and continue to love this author because of the grace shown to each character throughout their individual journeys.

Love Bek!

I love this very entertaining story. The characters are interesting and well developed.

Bek lives on an ice planet in a tribe mostly made up of couples, He wants a mate and a family of his own, but there aren't any unmated adult females. Bek decides that he will do whatever it takes to have a mate. Even if it means he has to buy females from the intergalactic black market. Bek will do anything to make her his.

This story had me so torn. Part of me wanted to yell at the humans that Bek did a good thing by having them brought to the ice planet (better than what 2 of the women had already had to endure) and it's not like he had them kidnapped from Earth to be mates. The other part of me was sad but also happy that Ellie was able to teach Bek about how slavery is wrong. I really loved how Ellie started to come out of her shell. Bek needed a great story and a great mate and this was exactly that! I recommend reading this book or listening to it. I own a copy of this book as both an ebook and an audible book.

Healing Trauma and Learning Empathy

After struggling to get through the last story in the series this was a wonderful return to what I love. The title of the book says it all this is truly a well done story of redemption and character growth. Elly and Bek have a wonderful story of overcoming on Elly's side her fears and trauma and move into self discovery and love and for Bek to be more empathetic and take accountability for his actions and understand what it means to care for another. This was a joy to listen to and felt very realistic and not over done. It was less spicy than some other volumes but in a way that felt totally honored the characters in the story. It is interesting watching the community grow and change and try to navigate conflict. The narration was phenomenal and without a doubt this is one of the best stories in the series.

A new side of the bad boy, Bek!

Okay, to start, I love these books. It's clear how different they each are, and Ruby Dixon has done an incredible job of coming up with new personalities, new storylines, and new character arcs for her characters. One of the arcs I've enjoyed are the enemies to lovers lines, such as that with Liz, Josie, Kate, and now with Ellie and Bek. (forgive my spelling, I listen to the audiobooks, so I never see the names written down)

I enjoyed this book because it was the first of those with the new Humans, so it was refreshing to have new stories to tell, versus retellings of the same few years in the first handful of books. Ellie is super interesting in that she has been a slave since she was 13 and has experienced more of the galaxy than the other women who are freshly plucked from Earth. I would love a stand alone book about Ellie's experiences as a slave or at least any adventures she experienced in locations other than Not-Hoth. I thought she was interesting in how she was practically feral as a defense mechanism, and I liked that she wasn't made out to be anything other than stinky and gross for a good portion of the book. Of course Bek doesn't care about this, but I feel like the hygiene of the characters had to be mentioned at some point. I think sponge baths in caves can only do so much to clean your body, and without razors, tooth brushes, and deodorant, I'm giving the Qui (sp?) a lot of credit for the lack of halitosis, cavities, b/o, and armpit hair. Anyways.

I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed the sex scenes, I only have one complaint: I did feel like Ellie got past her fear of Bek far too quickly. I understand the Qui has a lot to do with the breaking down of the walls the human women have initially against some of the Sok, but there wasn't a lot of interaction before she decided Bek was safe and gave him her trust. Dixon did an incredible job of writing Ellie's character and her silence and really driving the point that Ellie does not trust, and that she is in worse shape than the other women. After all that writing and hearing about Ellie's stubbornness and silence, and independence, I was a bit surprised that she suddenly decided Bek was safe like a flip of a switch.

Also I think everyone was a bit harsh on Bek for buying the women. I know slavery = bad, but I feel like buying people out of slavery to free them, or at least give them a life that is better in comparison to the alternative, is not a bad thing. Perhaps he should've been in trouble for going behind the backs of others, but in the end, he did help the women out of their far worse situation. I'd say this was out of the fire and into the frying pan, at worst. Maybe its not back in their beds on Earth, but better than cages! I like Bek's character, I love a classic bad boy archetype who is a dick to everyone but the woman he cares about, I love the strong male stereotypical facade with a teddy bear heart and all that jazz. I am into Bek!

Anyways, I liked the book for what it's worth. I enjoyed their story, just as much as I've enjoyed the others. I would definitely recommend reading it. If you've made it to book 12, then you'll like book 13 :)

Oh Bek…

Bek was someone I didn’t think i could like based on his portrayal in previous books, BUT I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I like him once his mate was able to make him understand what he had done that was so wrong. This story again shed light on the naivety of a group of aliens who had the inability to even conceive of a world beyond theirs, let alone the horrific things these women (the humans) could have endured before their time with them. Lovely story of building trust from the ground up & truly loving someone more than yourself.
