This beginner-level course (CEFR Level A1) emphasizes pronunciation and comprehension over 3 intensive sessions, enabling you to quickly start conversing with native speakers and immerse yourself in everyday communication. Your learning will focus on active listening and speaking skills, ensuring that you understand and are understood in real-world scenarios.
Starting with greetings, responses and numbers before progressing to more complex vocabulary, this course helps you build a strong foundation, easing your progress in speaking and comprehending Albanian. You will develop a practical command of Albanian, opening doors to personal relationships, travel opportunities, and business ventures in Southeast Europe.
Known as 'Shqip' by its speakers, Albanian is a unique European language. It forms its own unique branch within the Indo-European language family, without clear relation to any other language. This unique heritage makes learning Albanian a particularly interesting experience, giving you insights as to the history of the Balkans, shaped by Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman influences.
The origins of Albanian are unclear, enhancing the allure of studying it. Its vocabulary and structure, though influenced by neighboring languages, still maintain a distinct character. Today, around 7 to 8 million people speak Albanian, primarily in Albania and Kosovo, as well as in other Balkan countries and the across global Albanian diaspora.
