A five session introduction to core words and phrases in the Luganda language. The focus is on speaking and comprehension. Luganda, also known as Ganda, is a Bantu language within the larger Niger-Congo language family. It is predominantly spoken in Uganda, especially in the Buganda region. The primary speakers of Luganda are the Baganda people. Additionally, millions more use Luganda as a second language.
Geographically, Luganda is primarily used in central Uganda. It is also spoken in other parts of Uganda and among Ugandan diaspora communities around the world.
Culturally, Luganda is vital to the identity and daily life of the Baganda people. It is extensively used in local media, education, and literature. Luganda also has a significant presence in traditional and contemporary Ugandan music and arts, reinforcing its cultural importance.
