Acerca de esta escucha

Amelia Beckett is delighted to be a widow. Married by proxy to a man she'd never met, Amelia recognizes that a fortuitous entry into widowhood frees her from meddlesome chaperones and matchmakers. Heiress to her mother's sugar plantation in Jamaica, she happily anticipates working in a man's world, with the additional credibility of her new title: Lady Lockwood. But with the arrival of Captain Sir William Drake, her plans quickly go awry...William has traversed the Atlantic with one purpose. If he cannot prove that Amelia's marriage to his brother was a fraud, she will be entitled to a sizeable portion of his family's estate. He is determined to return this duplicitous "Lady" to London for an official hearing, and he carries with him a letter that will ensure her cooperation...Left with no choice, Amelia joins the captain on his return voyage to England, and the two quickly find that ship life does not allow for evasion. Amelia and William are ceaselessly thrown together, and amidst fierce storms and ocean battles, what began as antipathy seems to be evolving quite unexpectedly. But as they draw ever closer to their destination, will the impossibility of their circumstances shatter any hope of a future together?

Immersive naval history and narration is fine

While I found the narrator's male character voice a bit distracting at times, overall she did a great job of showcasing the historical tone of the author's words which felt very true to the period. I especially loved learning what Holystones were and other historical details placed so naturally throughout the book that made it feel authentic.

One of my favorites!

I loved this story. It was exciting and entertaining from cover to cover. One of my favorite parts was Amilia's courage during the battle on ship with the French. She was so selfless and loving and jumped right in to help the surgeon take care of the wounded soldiers she had grown to love as family. The narrator was exceptional. She made the audio so believable. One of my favorite love stories. Great ending!

I loved this book!!!

I absolutely adored this book! I read a lot and often get tired by predictable plots or over-dramatized turns of events. This book on the other hand was refreshing. I loved that it was completely believable, yet exciting enough to make your heart skip a beat or a sigh to rise up. I could not put this book down, sacrificing my sleep in the process. The chemistry between the main characters is wonderful, and the love story naturally grows. The male is the perfect swoon worthy hero, and the female lead is strong, vibrant, and yet lady-like, as the time and place calls for. I am often annoyed when books set in Regency times, give the female lead too much liberty to behave or speak with modern ideals, contrary to what is believable for the time and setting. This books strikes a perfect balance, in that respect.
I also very much enjoyed all the supporting characters. Falling in love with the crew of the ship, and as a result feeling the pain of the tragedies they endured on their voyage. The life on board the war vessel was fascinating. You can tell the author did a lot of research. I find myself more knowledgeable about ocean voyages during the era, yet do not feel like I sat through a history lecture. The author weaved the details remarkably, giving the story much depth.

I am very satisfied with this book, and can't wait to find another from this author, as this was the first book I've read by her.

Lastly, I must add that the narration was excellent.

Lady Lockward?

An enjoyable read. Your emotions go up and down through the story. It is a story of a lady who enjoys her widowhood in Jamaica. She is called back to England by her father. She shows unexpected behaviour throughout the journey and a view of the amazing lady Lady Lockward is. Read or listen to the story to find out more. The narrator was quite good.

Very Interesting Regency Romance

I enjoyed this Regency Romance very much. Best Sea-Based one I have ever read. Good lead characters and secondaries. I thought the reader did an excellent job, too. More a traditional story — although a unique one — in that there are no “sex” scenes which is a pleasant change from the usual so-called Regencies on offer these days.

MY TAKE
This is the second book I've read by Moore, and I'm now a huge fan. I loved this story. Drake hated her so much in the beginning, and she was nothing like he thought. It was fun to get to know each of the characters as their time on the cruise let them get to know each other as well--and fall in love.

The narrator, Ingram, did a great job.

A fun story that made me smile while wringing my heart.
