Challenging & interesting!
Each story is like a thought experiment. I listened to all of them several times. I especially enjoyed hearing the author’s thoughts at the end of each story.

Intriguing. If you enjoy dystopias, fantasy, science fiction read this book!
Such interesting and unique ideas! And after each story the author explains her thought processes in the writing.

Good Introduction (BrettD review)
This was my first exposure to Octavia Butler. Her writing is great. I can see why she is well renowned. I can see her attention to detail and nuance in each of these short stories. I put 4 stars because short stories just aren't as fulfilling as novels. I got this to try a new author and determine if I should read their novels. It served that purpose and I will continue on into her novels.

First OEB book
I enjoyed the bold harsh and charming writing of Octavia E Butler. she went places others fear to tread and I'm all the better for it.

Some are good
This seems like a compilation of prior works. Very short. Did love some of these. Others not so much.
