Acerca de esta escucha

All I wanted was to escape the scandal. The job offer in California was the perfect opportunity to pack up and head West. A dark, sexy, and mysterious new boss wasn’t in the plan. And his secrets run deeper than just his business dealings.

When Ethan reveals who and what he truly is, it throws everything I ever thought I knew about the world out the window. Vampire. The word alone brings up visions of blood-sucking monsters. Yet, Ethan is anything but. Falling for him, with his dashing good looks and honed charm, was almost inevitable. But we’re from two very different worlds, and the danger in his might just bring an end neither of us saw coming.

That's the end??????

I really enjoyed this story. For me everything kinda flowed until the end. The ending was just there and the epiloge was just like a treasure. This story really gave no ending so your left hanging. Its almost like the author didn't really know how to end the book so they just through something together. I am not really on for the paranormal romance but I thought I would give it a shot and while I don't judge other books by one bad seed this book has made me hasten to read another. Its unfortunate because this book had good bone and meat to go further. On a good note the narraration was exceptional 👌 👏 🙌 👍. I will be looking for more books by Desiree Ketchum.

It was only ok.

The story was blah. Just not very exciting. Pretty boring. Not much of a connection between the characters. I didn't feel like I wanted to believe anything they were saying. Our favorite old characters in Chance and Aubrey were so unlike themselves and I didn't care for their characters in this book. Personality shift for them. I thought with this book being a sci-fi fantasy romance that things would be exciting and hot. It was not. The romance was ho hum and even the sex scenes were abbreviated. Nothing to give the story much substance based in any emotion. I spaced out so many times I had to keep turning it back. I am glad it was on audible escape as I never wouldn't have wanted to waste a credit. I am disappointed and wish it was more for the change in genre for this series. The performance was fine, but nothing to keep my interest long. Not the performers fault however.

Not what I've come to expect from Hero Club

Seemed like they were scraping the bottom of the barrel with this one. The story itself was good enough, but adding the immortal element to it , I feel, didn't belong in the Hero Club world. If you're doing a contemporary romance series, keep it contemporary., but this book belonged in a supernatural series.

Things aren’t what they seem

I enjoyed listening to this book. The narration was excellent. The story well written and read.
Caroline Blakely had a blight on her past. Her best friend Aubrey got her a job with Ethan DuPont at Dumont industry’s. It was insta lust, but it worked for them.
After working together for weeks, they decided to explore their attraction. Someone watching was unhappy with this decision.
It was a good thing that things worked out.
I would definitely recommend this audible book.

Good book

This was a good book! A tiny bit predictable but over all well written. My only criticism would be the way that the narrator pronounces some of the city names. As a Southern Californian, I had to giggle every time she got them wrong!

Personality shift in popular characters

Out of all the Hero Club books, this one has been my least favorite. My biggest complaint is how 2 of my favorite characters that show up often were turned into awful ones. Chance and Aubrey are known to be AMAZING.... not shallow and petty. This author completely took these characters and made them their own and not for the best.

There was no "gotta have you-need you-lurve you" chemistry between the main characters. It was more like "meh-I like you maybe I love you".

Last thing is, this book is not contemporary like the others in the HC series. Im all for a paranormal twist like this one took! This book does have a good premise and if this had a book 2 I may get it but only if no other characters from other books are in it.

I don't recommend wasting your time on this book

This was my first Hero Club book. This story contained very little character development, no sexual tension and no romantic tension. We are told the two main characters are attracted to each other at the beginning but we aren't shown it. The story is told exclusively from the heroine's point of view, which makes it impossible for the reader to discern the hero's thoughts, feelings and motivations. I don't mind romance novels told from one character's point of view but when the heroine is merely a passenger in her own life instead of the conductor, being presented with only her perspective forces the reader to be in a state of confusion regarding what is happening.

Things "just happen" to the heroine instead of her driving the events of her own life. Sure, she makes the decision to agree to sign an "agreement" before pursuing a relationship with the hero, but she doesn't read it beforehand. That is just one example and I wouldn't have minded her not reading the agreement before signing if it had been well-established she didn't care what it contained, she just wanted to be with the hero. Instead, it was well-established she thought the hero was hot but she had a lot of fears and reservations about him. So, of course she signed an agreement without reading it. Because she was scared and unsure about him but he was hot (sarcasm.)

The sex scenes in this book are very short, basic and juvenile. Given the heroine was a virgin, I would have expected the sex scene to be more than what it was.

Throughout the book, I kept wondering why the hero and heroine even liked each other. Their story just wasn't developed enough; we don't see them fall in love. The hero often seemed aloof, but it is because we are presented his actions through the eyes of the heroine and she doesn't know anything.

Overall, this book came across as poorly written Twilight fanfiction.
