In October of 2008, I was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN, after a head-on collision with an SUV while riding a motorcycle. When I woke up, I was told I would never walk again or have full use of my hands.

Seventy-eight screws, 13 plates, 25 units of blood, and more than 400 stitches and staples later, I became very familiar with physical pain and haven’t had a pain-free day since. That physical battle was harder than I could even begin to explain, but it doesn’t really come close to the one that I went through inside of myself over the years that followed. I know what it is like to be broken physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and everything in between. I know what it takes to heal and how difficult that road is.

Broken Not Beaten is about that journey and the things that I learned along the way. It is a restructuring of the perception that I use to see the world around me, as well as the one inside of myself. This audiobook is filled with things that quite literally saved my life, and my hope is that at the very least it can help with something in yours. If you ever feel like you’re all alone in this world, I promise you that you’re not.

My goal with the Broken Not Beaten brand is to build a community and a family as big as I possibly can, comprised of people who know what it is like to fight these battles and people that are going to have to fight them in the future. A reminder to all those who wear it to never give up. A reminder to all those who see it that they’re not alone. There is a beauty that awaits to be seen in this world that you can’t even fathom. Fight with everything in you and on the days you don’t feel like fighting, fight anyway. I am broken not beaten, and this is for the fighter in us all.
