Resumen del Editor

"A riveting, up-close, and personal story of one of America's ugliest moments." (Southern Literary Review)

In the spring of 1921, one of the most atrocious yet little-known events of American history took place in Tulsa, Oklahoma's prosperous, all-Black, Greenwood neighborhood when a murderous White mob burned the town of 10,000, known as Black Wall Street, to ashes.

In this work of historical fiction, longtime political journalist Dennis "Mitch" Maley keeps the emphasis on "historical" in dramatizing this historically accurate and meticulously researched depiction of the horrific events that led to one of our nation's ugliest moments.

Very compelling. Historical and a must read.

This was a very compelling historical accounting of a little known, until recently, historical event. I feel as though I was there after having read the book. I heard the author speak and he took it very seriously to get things accurate.

A must read/listen!

This is a capturing and surprising account of important history, sadly NOT taught in the education system.
The audible version is a most crafted piece of historical, literary and theatrical work by the author.
So well done, with masterful character depiction and energy.
I listened to the entire book in a day, despite heavy foreshadowing of pending disaster…. just couldn’t put it down.
This important piece of work is a must read in order to broaden our sadly limited education of true US history.
Bravo to Mr Maley for the inclusion of detail and character building, due to his strong emotional command of voice performance. The connection to characters brings this tragic story to life, and perhaps more importantly, to heart, which then offers opportunity for compassion.
Highly recommend listening to this book, with important conversation to follow….to educate… to bravely look and own what, who and where we have come from.
