Resumen del Editor

Tony, Grammy, and Emmy Award winner Cynthia Erivo narrates Tomi Adeyemi’s long-awaited conclusion to the #1 New York Times bestselling Legacy of Orïsha series.

New allies rise.

The Blood Moon nears.

Zélie faces her final enemy.

The king who hunts her heart.

When Zélie seized the royal palace that fateful night, she thought her battles had come to an end. The monarchy had finally fallen. The maji had risen again. Zélie never expected to find herself locked in a cage and trapped on a foreign ship. Now warriors with iron skulls traffic her and her people across the seas, far from their homeland.

Then everything changes when Zélie meets King Baldyr, her true captor, the ruler of the Skulls, and the man who has ravaged entire civilizations to find her. Baldyr’s quest to harness Zélie’s strength sends Zélie, Amari, and Tzain searching for allies in unknown lands.

But as Baldyr closes in, catastrophe charges Orïsha’s shores. It will take everything Zélie has to face her final enemy and save her people before the Skulls annihilate them for good.

::sigh::

So, like most, I anticipated the release of this book since the ending of the last one. I felt like this was rushed. I will admit, while I love Cynthia, the former narrator had the voices down pat. I feel like there was no closure for the magi and that this could have been a standalone instead of the conclusion to what happened in Orisha as very little of it took palace in Orisha. The most disappointing parts were the characters that were left out, even the queen, who has been the series main antagonist, is suddenly on par with the magi. and, only half of a chapter to end the war between the titans and magi.... idk.... still a good book, but i feel like we need more

So many questions

I think parts of this was ok. I don’t think this is the last book because I still want to know what happened to Rohan???? The ending came a bit abruptly, I would have liked to see a little bit more of the what’s to come after.

Disappointed

Like other reviewers, I waited a long time for this book. It’s a let down. The story, although action packed, was flat. My mind often drifted and I couldn’t tell whose POV I was hearing. Maybe I should have re-listened to the other two?
I’m only recommending this book because it wraps the story — just don’t expect the same richness of story.

Weaving of cultural influences

I had to google Baldyr to confirm the reference. The name was familiar but it caught me off guard. I had a feeling the story would go in that direction but to use the god made it all the better. I love a novel that teaches me something about cultures and this novel did just that while also being immensely entertaining. Just so good!

Disappointed

I was dismayed at the change in narrator; there was not enough distinction between the chapter’s voices or excitement in the narration. The story felt rushed. Overall, it was just okay. I would’ve been fine stopping after Book 2.
