Acerca de esta escucha

Thomas Paine published Common Sense in 1776, a time when America was a hotbed of revolution. The pamphlet, which called for America's political freedom, sold more than 150,000 copies in three months. Paine not only spurred his fellow Americans to action but soon came to symbolize the spirit of the Revolution itself. His persuasive pieces, written so elegantly, spoke to the hearts and minds of all those fighting for freedom from England.

Reseñas de la Crítica

“No writer has exceeded Paine in ease and familiarity of style; in perspicuity of expression, happiness of elucidation, and in simple unassuming language.” (Thomas Jefferson)

A MUST READ for every American!

Enormously popular and widely read propaganda pamphlet, published in 1776, clearly and persuasively argues for American separation from Great Britain and paves the way for the Declaration of Independence. Eloquent, persuasive and incendiary. I can see why this pamphlet was so influential. A must read for every American!

A look back...or even forward

Wise words to live and run a country by. In light of the current political upheavals I'm thinking that present day Whigs and Tories should get together and listen to this book as keeping this country from the hands of invaders and our survival is what it is about. Read this....it's just Common Sense.

An American Necessity

This should be required reading in all schools, public AND private, across the country. Not only is it an American literary classic, but also some of the insights Paine writes about can even be understood and applied to the present day. Absolutely recommended! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

An "all Americans must read"

Even though the settings of it's introduction were different and the prevailing sensibilities of it's time were different than today's, it's main arguments are still viable and vital to the sustenance of democracy in this country, that gave embodiment to them

History is repeating itself!

The words of Thomas Paine are needed now just as much as they were needed then! Our history is being silenced and rewritten. We need to make sure that we remember, for even if it's unpleasant, it shall teach us not to make the same mistakes again!

Most enlightened

Reading this I fully understand why and for what timing it was written. Without it, the necessary stirring up of support for the revolution might have been lost
