We’ve heard a lot about Google, Inc.; one of the largest and most powerful companies in the world. We’ve heard about its culture, its hiring practices, lawsuits and troubles with the government. Recently, the company has been scrutinized by the media over its firing of a young employee who had written a paper about its diversity policies. This booklet will analyze the concept of diversity politics in corporate America. As a young executive, working for a major corporation, I observed the issue of diversity as it played out during the ‘70s and into the new century. I’d like to offer this perspective to help us understand what I have come to call Corporate Fear in America and how it has developed over those decades.
