Acerca de esta escucha

Johnny Webb, his family, and friends continue to weave their lives as jewellers and shopkeepers into the political and social fabric of the East End of London during the late Victorian era. However, their gifts continue to prevent them from following the common path, and they soon discover that once again they are stuck between worlds, teetering on the edge and staring straight into the cosmic abyss. War reigns in the heavens and upon the earth.

Future and past merge. Who is Maya, and why does she visit Noah in his dreams? Who is Ivan, the Russian who brings news from the old country? Who will live, and who will die?

Never a dull moment, interesting till the end.

It’s also a fabulous walk through Victorian London, and I think the author must have done extensive research.
A fantastic way E.M.G. Wixley for opening up a world between Earth and the underworld and filling the pages with fascinating horror but also showing us the early stages of women activists. Noah’s nightmares, is a touching story of Maya - where the future is artfully pulled into the past and we see the Holocaust through the eyes of one young girl.
In the present, Johnny and some of his family can see beyond Earth’s veil and must fight the dybbuks that steal goodness from people’s souls.
A must listen to.

Gothic Horror and a Trip Through Time

There's a clever hook to the book -- what would the "future" be to someone living in Victorian London? It would still be our past, but something unthinkable from the perspective of the 1800s. This is well-written gothic fiction set in Victorian days, but seen through the perspective of modern times (whether or not that's a good thing is up to you.) The story covers a lot of ground in a short amount of time, and fans of the previous installments will likely grow invested a few pages in. I listened to the audiobook version, and narrator George Ellington did a fantastic job capturing the sound of the era, and staying true to a variety of voices.
