The Background. After an atomic explosion obliterates the warship Bellingham, a Lieutenant Commander regains consciousness in New York City and is astounded to discover himself inhabiting the body of a dissolute stockbroker. Unable to articulate his true identity, he endeavors to assimilate into the stockbroker's lifestyle.
