was it the book or the narrator?
I've enjoyed all of the Jack Ryan books so far but very much struggled with this book. Not sure if it was due to content, or the performance from the narrator, or just with everything going on with covid but this was my least favorite of the series so far. The narrator was very hard to listen to.

Great Book, Terrible Narration
This narrator was very difficult to listen to for the length of this book. His accents for the different characters was awful and difficult to differentiate. His mouth and nostril sounds were very distracting from the story as well. I’d love to hear this book again narrated by Scott Brick!

Awful Narrator
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator is truly awful. I've never heard more "mouth sounds" in an audiobook. Lip smacking, swallowing, on top of a robotic, monotone, and disgusting delivery. It's so bad it's distracting. Tons of mispronunciations and bad accent attempts.

great story, robot voice
so hard to get through the performance. the voice was robotic, so much so that I thought it was the old mechanized kindle voice at first and not even a real person.

Bad voice act, but a good story
The voice acting for the characters was not very good. The accents were sometimes down right awful, but the story was still very well done and enjoyable if you can get past the voice acting/narrator. This is just my opinion.

Amazing book but poor narration
This was an amazing book but listening to it with headphones was painful. The narrator breathes heavy and you can hear him breath in your ear every pause he takes. Glad he only narrated this one book in the series.

Technical problems
I read an earlier review complaining about the reader being slow and boring. When I first started listening I couldn't understand what their problem was. However, about halfway through the book I realized that I, too, was getting irritated with the pace of the reading. It got worse as the book continued.
After I finished listening, I re-started the audio and found a significant difference in pace. This is NOT a problem with the reader. It is a technical problem with the recording and should be addressed by the recording staff.

well written, well narrated
well written, well narrated. some of the accents are a bit over-the-top, but all are distinguishable and unique to the character.

Awesome book, couldn't "put it down"
Story was great, the only "complaint" was how slow the reading was. I listened to it on 1.25 speed and it was just about right.
